  1. Yes you can see the wind change to the south of our region here.....http://www.xcweather.co.uk/. Observations say heavy snow in Loftus,

Just up the road in Saltburn its been snowing on and off all evening. Its odd though, the snow looks like shards of glass sticking out of whatever its settled on. I know its been coming down very wet - almost like falling slush but this is a new one on me.

  2. Think that's an intensity error. If you notice, the heaviest areas also intensify at exactly the same time in the SW frontal band, just as they were gradually getting lighter over the previous few frames.

I did think that, zoomed out and the increase is shown all over the country.

Wondered what possible event could cause all showers nationally to increase in intensity at the same time! Still, some might be valid!

  3. My ideas for you citizenx

A overview here could be useful

    http://theweatherout...eather-forecast

Following what people are observing on threads like

    http://forum.netweat...21-autumn-2012/ http://www.cloudyski...php?f=20&t=1383

Checking a almanac for you area i.e

Others may have other ideas as i'm still new to this site.

Great, thank you, i shall take a look at these!

  4. Have been reading this thread with interest and started wondering if there was a guide to autumn and winter (with a UK perspective) outlining what happens and when... some kind of narrative detailing what we would observe here (leaves changing, days shortening, temperatures dropping, winds increasing, first signs of frost, snow and ice, etc) and their causes.

Something which tells us novices who want to follow the start of autumn and winter this year what to look for.

    Anyone?

  5. Moderate rain on and off here too. Still, got to hear some lovelt rumbles of thunder from a reasonably close cell to the SW earlier this afternoon, so despite no direct hits, it hasn't been a bad three days smile.png

Still an outside chance for the rest of this afternoon into the early evening. I expect they'll die off a little sooner today though.

The Met Office have an amber warning for the North East, Yorkshire and Humber running from 1400 to 2200 so there's still a chance.

We've got something heading in now which looks threatening but seems everything has died out as its hit our area today. Over the last few days we've basically had a couple of rumbles from one cell and a bit of rain. Thats it!

  6. At the moment I think tomorrow will have some hefty showers but nothing on the scale of yesterday and potentially today. By mid week it will quietening down as high pressure takes hold. How long this holds will be open to question but should start to break down into the weekend with hot humid air spreading NW from the continent and interacting with a low pressure off to the SW of the British isles. Potential for some violent storms especially for Southern and Midland counties.

Sounds good, here's hoping this afternoon produces something special, been a bit quiet round these parts - which is typical as i used to live in Newcastle and didn't see a single storm for years after the 2005 monster.. have missed those there the last few weeks!

  7. Yeah I could here thunder here although think it was further up the coast towards Northumberland. Whats it like down there now?

Morning! The main electrification appears to be more northerly over the open spaces (you could look for a Morpeth cam) but you could search for a Middlesbrough cam just incase the blob further south to me makes it across Middlesbrough electrified?

The storm didn't last long but is seemingly intensifying again. No thunder heard for the last 20 mins or so but its very grey and misty.

  8. Oh my god the rain os torrential its horrendous and yeah thunder heard!!

Flash flooding everywhere now its a disgrace to be woken to that this morning I have to drive to Middlesbrough and was banking on a dryish day until tonight!

Woken here in Saltburn in the last few minutes by a huge rumble of thunder. Storm has reached us although it seems to have calmed slightly in the last few minutes.
