Sure, there were tentative signs of deep prolonged cold about a week ago, and that went down the pan quickly.

I have very little confidence in these GWO, EAMT, MT teleconnections as they only give a broad brushstroke of where highs and lows might be.

What we see, is that a wee short wave can override these macro teleconnections and provide something far less potent.

Its really is getting to the stage of is there any point looking at long range mods anymore, for winter anyway!

Not neccesarily.  Could we worse,  with snow sitting on top of the ice, you won't see it.

Good point there. I think we'd need a good dumping of snow to make any real difference, grip wise that is.  And way things are panning out at the minute , I very much doubt we are going to see that any time soon!

It seems to rain here which causes a slight thaw then it completely freezes over again. I'm out at 7 to take the wife to work my street is untreated so it'll be fun.

It'll be fun indeed. Lets just hope we'll all see some kind of snow fall before the nights out. It'll make it a wee bit easier to drive and walk in.

Was awful trying to walk the dog without breaking a hip tonight the whole place is like that up here.

Could contain: Path, Sidewalk, Walking, Street, Road, City, Grass, Tarmac, Outdoors, Nature

Nightmare! I dread to think what all the untreated roads and footpaths will be like in the morning. I don't know about everyone else, but its been raining off and on for the past 2 hours here on top of frozen ground.
