Morning all
The Balmedie sna shield was briefly penetrated overnight with a light dusting getting through. Very light snow, almost light rain when I left for work. Met O has light snow all day. We will see.
It’s been snowing (light & heavy) all morning in the shire.Weather looks cold enough for the snow to hang around till Monday and maybe a bit further, hopefully

Near Tullynessle, which is to the north of Alford, half way up Sui hill.
I’m just the other side of the Sui in kennethmont, like more snow had pretty decent amount of days of snow here as well. Its amazing how the snowy conditions change once across the railway line at insch, wee bit of altitude makes all the difference when the snows marginal

Well, we woke this morning to ....... GREEN, GREEN, and MORE GREEN! Snaw disappeared overnight, just had a few flurries of snizzle and light snow during the day. As for the Beast from the east, well, even wee Seannie oan STV said that it would get very cold towards the end of the month, from the east! We'll see!
It’s about time the cold and snow started coming from a more favourable direction for us in the north east.Things look to be turning cooler later in the month, fingers crossed for now

Actually having looked at the map in more detail, we will be NW of Aberdeen the nearest point on the map is a place called Wells of ythan.....just a few miles from Largue... I'm sure this winter will bring snaw for all of us.. yes even here in the peak district the trees have started to turn and that morning chill is most definitely there now...Winter is my favourite time of the year...and I cant wait for this one to get under way.
Hi there,I know the area, your around 15 miles east of me,I live in a wee village called Kennethmont,It's a fantastic part of Aberdeenshire, everything you need round about, your 15 minute drive to the small town of Huntly and 1 hour drive to Aberdeen or you can get the train. If you need a hand with anything give me a shout

Cracking morning here in Aberdeenshire,-6 earlier.Nice clear skies,no wind and a lovely warm sun on my back as I exercise the dogs (no mud around either, bliss).
There's a fair bit of chatter on the MOD thread for the possibility of cold as we head through March.Anyone any thoughts on this for us in bonnie Scotland.

Agreed! we are currently nearing the end of a cold spell and what amazes me is that the temperatures have been average at best. Since when has average temperatures been classed as a cold spell? when was the last time Shetland and Aberdeen got hammered by frequent heavy snow showers in a northerly flow?
Being an Aberdonian I can tell you it's been quite a few years since we've seen big snow fall.Yes the city has had minus temps and some small amounts of snow but nothing to get excited about.I've moved 35 mile to the north west of the city with good elivation so see much more snow when it's around. This year we've had around 20 odd days of snow on the ground and -7 the coldest temp,I'm really looking forward to seeing a proper winter with 2-3 week cold spells with double didget minus temps.

The morning started (5.30am) clear and frosty, snow showers started around 6.30am,not a breath of wind,-3.Looking forward to see what the next 4-5 days has in store, one thing is certain it won't be mild and wet.

Hi @Ravelin all the hills round my part of Aberdeenshire are white,The tap 'o' the noth and the hills behind Leith hall have a covering.I had a mixture or sleet and rain all morning,I'd reckon the snow line starts around 700ft,my house sits at around 650ft .
