So can anyone shed any further light on the rumours of a plume at the weekend?
(I like to call them 'plume'ors - lol)
William seems to think that it will be worth while, he posted a status update about it

winds easing slightly but no big deal, can see storms over Germany right now, looks to be a repeat of last night if the conditions are good. Only time will tell.

where?
the thunder about to enter Germany looks to be a repeat of last night, the storm cells will (hopefully) move across the north sea by the early hours of tomorrow morning.
that is if they survive

And my point is further proven when we consider the small Cumbrian hamlet of 'Humdingerton' where one-time resident Mrs Kirkwood of 1000 Defogonnahappen Lane kept records which show not one thunderstorm over the period of 3 decades (prior to which all records were destroyed by a suspected lightning strike)

the Blitzortung froze at ipswitch last night and i though the storm had died, woke up at 7, MISSED IT ALL

keeping an eye out on the small cells that are NE of Lincoln

seeing a repeat of yesterday, if these storms keep going, they could make the north sea by early tmrw morning, if they stay strong they could be at the UK shores by 2 a.m, but the likeliness of that is very low.

The rain started at 03.00 this morning with a very distant rumble of thunder. From then on my slumber was interrupted on and off by either torrential rain lashing against the window or a rumble of thunder. I was finally woken at 06.50 this morning by a massive clap of thunder very nearby. Looking at the Real-time Lightening map, East Anglia seems to have been the favoured area for storm activity this morning. It's gone a bit quiet on the radar this last 30 minutes though.
Still pouring down at the mo and my station has measured 26.4mm since 03.00 - more than an inch of rain. Radar shows the area of rain moving slowly E with the pulses moving SE.
i did not hear any thunder and i was awake for most of that time, either that OR I DOZED OFF AND MISSED IT ALL!
