RADIO NEWCASTLE JUST ISSUED A SEVERE WARNING FOR NORTHUMBERLAND.CANT SEE IT MESELF LOL.
when did you move to Sunderland lol.
me neither unless the flow is turning more easterly at some point? That band is now a few hundred miles long, and I am sure it will change direction at some point (it normally always does) - otherwise someone would be in for several hours of constant snow with at least 12 inches being dumped on them.
Not likly... but it could happen. could this be snowstorms day?
-
wow those showers are pepping up. looks like some people are going to get several inches of snow from this.
-
Glorious morning again after about a couple of cms of snow last night,8am temperature was -11c. Judging by the latest ECMF charts show we are now on borrowed time but you never know, enjoy it folks.
wasnt the ECMF showing prolonged cold only yesterday?
Everyone jumped ship to ECM because it performed better than the GFS at the beggining of this cold spell... quite funny the GFS has had the warm up starting around middle of next week for quite some time, so are people now favouring GFS again?
In my mind, it was always going to happen around then. Looking at the charts there is no possible outcome other than a milder interlude due to the pressure set up on the charts. On a positive note AO is still negative, so we probably will see a return to colder conditions.

one thing for sure they are moving much faster than yesterdays showers
-
Morning izi, how far are you from the city centre? Is there much on the roads?
as the crow flys about 2 miles from city centre.
there was about 1.5cm which fell last night and of course settled. there is about 6-7 inches in total here.
only the main roads are gritted, and the grit isnt working very well it has to be said, too cold
edit: i dont think we will see any snow today, possibly some tonight. the showers out to sea are heading for n york moors i beleive
-
morning, -7.5oC here
-
looks much fatter further south
-
temp got up to the dizzing heights of -3.5oC during that snow fall. Now falling back, -3.8oC
-

-
so pretty with light winds and heavy-ish ppn. like movie snow.
edit: same intensity but tiny flakesn again
-
still light small flakes in south gosforth
This is the heaviest snow yet and its coming down vertical. No wind at all.
arnt you just up the road from gosforth? how am i missing it? :)lol
edit: wait i think it may be getting heavier
-
-3.6oC and the smallest ice/snow flakes ive ever seen
-
very light snow started here
-
I'm still nervous it has to be said, it could easily weaken and all we get is light snow which when you think what it is at the moment would be dissapointing.
This looks like a trough to me and going by the BBC graphics earlier, it should not really weaken in theory.
it is a trough, i saw it on the look north forecast - it showed as occluded front, maybe explain the rise in temp?
-
i think TWS nailed this one, as per
-
-4.3oC from -5.2oC not 15 mins ago, clouding over...
-
Did anyone else see the amateur meteorologist they had on Look North? He had the GFS charts on his screen in the background and you could tell by the time buttons above it was Netweather.
It was the man who runs this site...

Anyway the showers are looking very interesting, particularly that line which is intensifying.
Up until lunchtime I wasn't expecting anything tonight, but now I'm quite hopeful of at least another inch or two.
The line has just intensified further on the 17:15 radar.
yeah i saw him, look like he had the gfs charts on NW on in the background
-
-4.8oC and rising slightly here
i correct myself, mine is steady also
just seen northeast forecast on been and showers all the way through to sunday... tomorrow look ok too.
interesting, i wasnt expecting anything much more to be honest.
the showers out to sea look like gaining intensity and are coming in more from an easterly direction now.
-
-4.8oC and rising slightly here
-
if you play the sequence you can see the change of direction of the showers out in the north sea to a more easterly dierction
-
OON i am watching you weather station website, your temp is dropping away v quickly.
-
That picture of the snow near slayly is epic.
-
The low itself may head south, but I'm wondering about the outer cloud bands, which won't follow the path of the low..any ideas?
bbc say showers through to saturday, this could be the same feature you are talking about.
originally this was forecast to come to us via the meto fax charts about a week ago i remember...
-
you can have this lot.i'm getting sick of it now.
