winter 95-96 was no great shakes!!!

every month below the 61-90 ave let alone 71-00...doubt that will happen again!!

apparently mine is 3.45 tonnes per year....not bad as i didnt think i was paricularly green and i have 3 kids and live in a big house!

i do rememba that period cus we went abroad 4 the 1st time ..i was 13 went 2 france..and always rememba it being cool and dull...however the winter that followed wasnt anything out of the ordinary..maybe your confused with winter 81-82..rather than 80-81?

like the g8 leaders...i just cant be assed!

all the more reason to nuke china and india now!!..tht would certainly reduce co2 emmissions b4 they get out of control...lol

hang on isnt it our taxes that have funded the building and maintaining the roads over the years????..so we jus give them to private companies to charge us to drive on roads that we have already paid for in the 1st place??..i work in the building industry and there is no way your eutopian idea of road maintainence will ever happen!!!...they will do the bear minimum that is layed down by the govt and no more..in order to maximise profit....look at how railway lines and rolling stocks are maintained!

dear oh dear...most ppl who post on this subject have jus got no idea..and live in this perfect world of recycling...vilfying car use etc etc...stuff u lot im keeping my car..im not travelling on public transport with load of drunks..teenagers...oaps ...moaners and wingers..BO ...standing in the rain and snow waitng 4 a bus or train..i value my freedom plus i need my car 4work..i work in construction and run 3-4 diff sites how the hell could i get from job 2 job 2 job???...car drivers pay £40 billion in tax already..and where does it all go huh???..not on public transport thats 4 sure!!

is it unusual for nearly all the northern hemisphere waters to be below average...considering the mild winter experienced in the north?

i dont see the hype of jan 87...yes it had an exceptionally cold spell mid month...apart from that it dosnt really register as anything unusual?..i rate jan 79,82,85 as more spectacular!

i think it should be months tht ppl have experienced themselves..so it silly someone saying april 1905 4 example! anyway mine would be... Jan 1979..the coldest and snowiest winter month i can remember..the most prolonged cold Feb 1978..i was lucky enough 2 have experienced the one of the greatest blizzards of the 20th century. Mar 1995..after a poor winter..this month seemed to have everything Apr 1987..nice warm weather after a cold march May 1990..glorious sunny month Jun 1983...doing my exams beautiful warm end and start of a hot summer Jul 1976...hot hot hot Aug 1995...lovely dry heat not 2 humid Sep 2003...pleasently warm after the heat of aug Oct 2001..moved house dry and warm end to the month Nov 1980...very cold beginning with snow in the 1st week Dec 1981...need i say anymore..prolonged cold very snowy...comes a close 2nd to jan 79 as my fav winter month.

what kind of summer followed??

it all depends on where you live..in south west england..it was the warmest winter on record...as confirmed by the met office in exeter.

worst winter i can remember..no snow..no cold..lots of rain and drizzle..damp and dreary all round!

a non starter here ...like the winter just gone...no snow not particularly cold either..nothing unusaul for the mid late march..dont know what the fuss was about?

wet very mild..sunless my temps are as follows: dec = 7.4c, jan = 8.8c, feb = 8.1c just 2 air frosts no snow cover or snow falling...in fact not one snow flake easily the worst in terms of cold and snow in my area in my memory!!

my guess is 6.9 thnks
