  1. I think east of St Neots towards Santon Downham/Thetford has got a better chance than St Neots now.....St Neots was doing so well too! London city airport one to watch .... but cheating in a huge concreted city (joke)
  2. big bank of cloud formed over Bedford....due to Sun position/incidence ... has shaded St Neots - record unlikely to go if cloud intensifies ....however.... I think we need to look towards the triangle.......Cambridge - Cambourne/Papworth Everard/Huntingdon - record might be possible there (maybe south of Cambridge but there is light cloud a good 20 miles away SSE of St Neots which may affect places like Saffon Walden/Haverill / Royston/Baldock/ etc........ sky is still very clear about a mile east of St Neots .... East of Cambridge might be the other spot to break the record- think Newmarket upto Thetford Forest might be good too ... but cools the closer to the East Anglian coast
  3. Humidity is visibly on the up here as slight haze on edges of a totally blue sky.....could just be evaporation effect from drying land though (land had decent mositure content before today) walking in countryside near st neots
  4. Never felt heat like this ever in Britain and Ive lived in many places............ St Neots is baking!
  5. Faversham at 36.4C already! HOT TIP ....... CLOSE YOUR BLEEDING CURTAINS TO KEEP THE HOUSE COOLER......got them white reflective black out curtains up .. temp stable at 24C but 36c out lol the welsh mountains never got this hot
  6. hopefully for small town kent ...many secondary schools /schools in small towns usually keep a weather station .... but maybe thats just a Welsh thing
  7. St Neots sandy soil geology means it has a lower specific heat capacity than surrounding areas...wonder if that helps with the rate of warming up?
  8. Clearest day Ive seen in a long time....lack of any cloud at any level .... St Neots to Cambridge temperatures are sweet spot.....but where Kents local readings? Anyone from North/West Kent?
  9. Temperature crept over 35oC in St Neots about 11:45 but I might be just in a sweet spot (apartment complex/car park around) ..... dont take this as official ....by the river can be cooler (where is the official town weather station?! Just moved here!) Live at the bottom of an apartment and its only 24C inside....hehe
  10. Ice Cream Man bringing the weather to Merthyr!
  11. I reckon Waun Fach and Twyn Llech mountain areas will be the sweet spot for snow totals .... (Capel y ffin area)....Talgarth is the old Welsh cantref name there....but I dont know what the English county name is there now? Monmouthshire or brecknockshire? anyway ... looks sad for up north
  12. Croesi'r bysedd yma! Fingers crossed here
  13. Dyma rai o'm lluniau gaeafol (Dydd Mawrth - Wythnos diwethaf) Here are some of my wintry scenes from Tuesday, last week Lleoliad/ Location: Blaenau Clwyd 230masl (Between Corwen and Rhuthun)
  14. Seeing larger clouds building up on the horizons! but sun beating down here. 35C on outskirts of East Cambridge ... truly repressive with the humidity, getting up to core body temperature level Someone saying NO RECORD for July likely ... but Around the Bungay and Diss area is definitely in with a shout of beating 36.7C or whatever it was
  15. Seems to be a clustering of hot temperatures around Bungay in Norfolk (heading for 37C)......anyone from there confirm? They missed the rain last night I believe, so temperatures were not as subdued and they are closer to highest upper atmosphere temps
  16. 07:30am 18.6 C - Cambridge .... I think that coolish start could stuff any chance round here of record breaking....too much to catch up probably. Look further east! The ground here is still damp!!
  17. University of Cambridge temp @12:01 - 29.6C Sunshine with a fine haze to the blue sky Cambridge was pretty cool this morning after an intense thunderstorm - so its caught up a lot and rising
  18. Went out earlier in the Ely - Thetford - Ramsey area......really blistering heat......sun out fully...Cambridge area much more cloudy and temps back to 29C after rain....but further north is HOT HOT HOT....but peak temps past ofc
  19. Thunder and sharp shower out of nowhere in Cambridge....temperatures pegged back down to 32C First time since early May we have had rain (Cambridge to Norwich belt been exceptionally dry and missed most showers)
  20. Quick question..... How much will the mid layer - cloud cover over Cambridge and the area reduce the potential max temperatures? Incredibly humid here...cant cool..... local weather station reported 34.9C but dipped slightly with more cloud
  21. dipped to 36.2C now for that Ramsey/Bury reading XD..dodgy to drop that much so quick!
