  1. About 3 drops of rain fell overnight in Accrington! Now hoping that the flashes and bangs Manchester way head in my direction! Currently in the back yard with my laptop trying to write end of year school reports! Not going well, keep being distracted by planes coming into land at Manchester... They seem to be at a lower altitude than usual. Avoiding something maybe? An EasyJet flight from Amsterdam has been around twice, as has A Turkish Airlines from Istanbul. Oh, and I keep checking in here! Oh well, let's try again. Hope you all get whatever you want storm/rain wise!

  2. I work in a school. Have been flagging the forecast high temperatures to "the seniors" most of the week. Dept for ed suggest "leaving windows open overnight". A bit difficult when the peak is meant to begin on a Monday! Mitigations for our school are: wear shorts and pupils can take jumpers off!

A local high school has rescheduled their sports day from today to Monday!

It seems that some people are not taking this seriously!

I have experienced 40+ temps abroad... This spell of temperature is in a country with virtually zero aircon and nobody really has a pool to jump into after work... I hope that people can stay as safe as possible!

  3. I was in Majorca July 2018 and the temp hit 40°, or at least that's what the sign outside the pharmacy said! I found it very uncomfortable! Even in an air conditioned restaurant my hands were sweating so much I could barely hold my cutlery! Love a sunny, hot spell but very concerned for the elderly and other vulnerable groups at this time. Amazing to potentially be part of some recording breaking weather in the foreseeable but I also think people need to be cautious and take care!

I am not looking forward to teaching a class of 26 hot and bothered 9 year olds tomorrow, especially towards the end of term when they've had enough of each other!
