  1. Good storm to my South east, less frequent lightning but brighter, probably closer and heading more my way. Moons still out though illuminating the changes of wind direction at varying altitude.
  2. The cell over the channel, South of Poole is letting out strikes every 3 or 4 seconds, heading North west in believe.
  3. Right back in the car heading up to the local view point
  4. That would be good, plenty of old anvil gubbins heading up from the South now, but you never know.
  5. Probably take a look one day, always enjoy finding new places in the area
  6. One of the towers drifting towards Weymouth an hour ago. Still Cumulus going up over the sea and some iceing of the tops but it's messy and they are weakening. Although cumulonimbus can be seen at a distance to the South east over the channel.
  7. The Cumulus just of the coast here are getting pretty vigorous, but losing there form fairly quickly.
  8. The messy stratus and Cumulus feeding in from the East are getting quite big now with dark bases, still not convinced that they will turn into the area of storms forcast, wait and see. Fairly dramatic though.
  9. On the cliff top at Kimmeridge now, mainly wind swept Cumulus/stratus passing briskly to the SSW although some of the Cumulus are quite active, still warm for location. Looking South it's hazy, but hoping with the help of my polarised sunnys to start picking up some more unstable mid level stuff from the South. Note to self should have worn long trousers, bugs here are hungry!
  10. Warm 26c, humid and breezy here, a mixture of Alto cumulus and Alto stratus cloud moving in over head, nothing dramatic yet. So I've decided to drive to Kimmeridge bay in the Purbecks and get there for about 5-6pm. Find a decent spot and watch the cloud scapes from there.
  11. Hello! Intensification to North of Poole, getting darker.
  12. A hazy line of small but convective looking alto cumulus coming up over the Southern horizon here in Poole
  13. Just had a short heavy shower, heading just North of west (I'm in Poole) wouldn't be surprised if they developed
  14. This was taken around 22nd December 2010 about 5 miles outside of Blandford, Dorset. Looks like a thatch roof provides the ideal conditions for lots of icicles to form! Very fond memories of this time.
  15. CG's seen on the horizon South of me here in Poole, thunder just now too!
  16. Great stormy clouds! Been watching the Western edge of the cell moving over the Bournemouth area. Wonderful textures and colours and a very animated, but fractured roll cloud which passed over just before this photo was taken.
  17. Yeah same here in Poole, thunder and lightning ever 2 minutes or so but not showing on the lightening detector.
  18. Hi all, I'm new to Netweather and this is my first post. Just wanted to quickly introduce myself, I've been a weather nut most of my life and enjoy anything from winter gales to snow to catching the first glimps of Altocumulus castellanus. Last night I watched the best night time storm here (Poole) for two years, as I'm sure many of you on here did also to. Such a curious and exciting event, lightening every second, from cells reaching from my South to the NW and really very little rain. Hoping tomorrow will bring something, though I'm not expecting anything on last nights scale.
