  1. I love stuff like that. Looks like it was a pretty chilly, cloudy day 107 years ago. When I stayed at home in Perth I used to go to the local library to pour over local newspapers from Perth and Dundee that dated back to the 1920's. I would spend ages looking at the old weather reports, particularly the reports from 1947 and 1962/63. I just wish I had access to them now as I know a lot more now, I was just a fledgling weather nerd back then B) !

    Hi Anti-Mild

    What about this link, brilliant:

http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/mtullett/1962-63/index.htm?N=D : a day by day account of the inter of 1962/1963

Look at the associate links that has a lot of info on the winter of 1947

    combined with

    http://www.theweatheroutlook.com/dathistcharts.asp

Did you actually experience that winter?

this is a site with a first class description of it

    http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/mtullett/1962-63/index.htm?N=D

I can vouch for it as I worked through it.

    regards

    Hi John,

    What a great read.

To enhance the experience open another window on the web, cut and paste http://www.theweatheroutlook.com/dathistcharts.asp.

Size the window with the history to cover the left of the screen. Size the window with the historic maps on the right of the screen and continue day by day with each

    What a joy!!!. Thanks.

  4. You were not too wrong Anti Mild. Were you? <_<

I've just been browsing TWO and one of the articles was describing January 1976. It said that the first 3 weeks were mild and very stormy, then in the last week a greenland high linked with an azores high to give a northerly airflow. This was followed in February by an easterly wind bringing low tempertures across Britain. Could this become a case of history repeating itself? regards, AM
