Our wood is looking rather poor , not even started on this year's wood yet ?!

You can never have enough wood can you... lol...

We've got about 3 cube chopped so far, but need at least 6, ideally 8!!!

Still got to find supplies but aiming to be finished sawing and chopping by end of April and going to let the wind and he sun do the rest...

I hope you catch up soon x

sun has gone to sleep and sun spot activity is dead - we could be in the cold well in april at this rate

I've already read ' a lot' of the long term forecasts for this year Andy and I agree...

Just hoping for our usual 'micro-climate' here on the coast of Pembrokeshire... sigh..

    I can but hope!

Last year I actually managed to grow Watermelons!

Currently have 'icing sugar' falling in Pembroke and pots I haven't bothered to empty (that filled with water) in the garden are icing over...

Personally I'm ready for spring! :sorry:... Sorry...

I'm already 3 weeks behind with my veg this year and my onions are germinating!!! Lol...

Not that I'm obsessed with our weather...

Blizzard conditions here at Strumble Head ...not nice to work in ... fire lit and finally done until 5.30 am milking :cold::cold:

Been thinking about you today... x Hard 'bloomin' work feeding animals and you must have had a battle today with water?

I've been using a planter tray to give the birds water and I've emptied it (and knocked the ice out) 4 times today as it froze so the birds could have a drink!!!

I even saw a blackbird bathe in it this afternoon... He was a BRAVE boy... lol...

You deserve a warm fire :D  Mine's been lit all day! I've waited 20yrs to get a log burner and watch snow fall at the same time, while sitting next to it keeping cosy x

First time I've felt compelled to post in 9+ winters of lurking.

Living in Cardiff, 2010 was the best I can remember, but it came right out of the blue.

Hopefully we're on the brink of something special (but safe).

Best of luck to everyone tomorrow and thanks for the entertainment over the years.

Dear Mr Snowblow, I hope the profile pic you've posted is not sign of 'the things to come' and were are all going to get our 'bits' iced as a result?

    Yours Sincerely Beachcomber Jen x

I'm hoping for some snow and a snow day on Friday!

If the Met Office are as on track as they have been all week Jayne, You'll get your wish ! x

I even think you'll get home tom after work as I don't think the 'real' snow will start in the West until after 6pm... x

  9. Anyway.. Anyone else in 'far' West Wales wondering how this will pan out for us?

I've already told my Dad to make sure the Kabuto (small tractor, 4x4, with bucket on front, i.e.: snow plow! ) is working so he can get them both over the Ridgeway into Pembroke where fresh homemade chicken soup awaits them and tonight the log burner is currently roaring with the temp inside 23.5c... Socks offf !!! They did at least join in and laughed at me :D

I posted this a week ago for those who didn't see it

I remember 82 started snowing first day back in work after new year and it didn't stop for three days

Wife was 9 months pregnant and I was thinking I would have to get her to hospital on a sledge if she went into labour (lucky me she hang on until the 26th)

Never opened my gate in over a week as you just stepped over it (you couldn't see it)

Had to dig out the in-laws out as both their doors was on the same side of the bungalow and the snow was up to the eaves over both doors

Took me nearly 7 hours to feed the horses on the mountain behind me (usually took an hour max walking or 20 minutes in the car)

We were cut off for a week nothing in and nothing out apart from the train which was running hours late. Police on the platform to stop fighting as people tried to get on (I just watched and then went back home)

No bread or milk or very little and they were charging a £1 for a loaf and a pint when it got through (about treble the price normally if I remember right)

Worst of the lot the local pub ran out of beer

This is what you have to look forward to :sorry:

    But I cant wait

Gosh... Sounds like you had a 'hellish' time... It certainly isn't fun for all and is something we must appreciate x I have very fond memories of it. If you check my profile page I did a post last week about how it was one of my fondest memories... But I guess we were lucky x

Yep it was the 1st week in Jan and it snowed for nearly 3 days solid where we lived at that time... Manorbier in Pembrokeshire... I don't think we are in for 3days solid in the 'Far' West Wales but we are certainly in for some snow :D

Ooo I want to say HE is a HANDSOME Boy x

He? looks so well looked after.

My garden birds had Double rations todays... And scoffed the lot... lol... and a Pied wagtail has taken up residence since the cold weather started... It stuffs it's face, sits in the warm sunshine for an hour or so... and then stuffs it's face again before flying off for the evening. Oh and can someone please relay to the pair of Magpies building a nest for the past week high up in the blackthorn to tone it down a bit, I'd be grateful... lol...

If you thought it was cold today tomorrow will be colder lovely x More wind! You need to be well wrapped up against the windchill. I would seriously love to visit your gorgeous spot once this 'inclement' weather is over?

As I've said I refuse to get excited until tomorrow... lol... x

Hi Jen- I'm in Pembroke by day, where we had about an hour-and-a-half of steadyish, light snow: lovely, and the second time this year!

Deffo be something Thurs/Fri... just how much? I'm hoping for a classic!

Oooo You had as much fun as did today... lol...

I think we may get our classic Ben!... although I refuse to get excited until tomorrow... lol...

If you're working Thursday I dare say you'll be keeping a close eye on the afternoon's weather for getting home... It seems most of these snow showers this week are coming in earlier than forecast! x

Wow!  What a story!  And what a great picture!  I love Manorbier and it's not difficult to imagine that little village being cut off in heavy snow but it must have been fun for you at the time.  I grew up in a flat with no heating and with those metal framed windows which never closed properly - in freezing weather we would get frost patterns on the inside of the glass and you could sometimes see your breath in the air!   Didn't seem strange to us in those days though.

Somehow I doubt that the weather is going to be so severe in our part of the world this time (apart from some very low temperatures) but there could well be some localised road closures if we get any drifting snow.  It's very tense in the MAD thread as they try to work out what exactly will happen - don't know why they can't just wait for things to happen...

    Sorry only just seen this...

Ha I agree it didn't seem strange to us at all... lol...

It was the drifting with the wind! one side of the road would have nothing and the other side would have 6ft or more!!!!

I don't think it's going to miss us and it's going to be windy, as to how much snow we get, the models differ, I'm holding back and planning to get all excited tomorrow... lol...

I'm all prepped and have cooked enough to feed an Army... lol... x

I'm normally cautious about these things, but it's such an unusually cold set-up I guess if it's going to happen it has to be now.

Seems to have upgraded last couple of runs, too. But, as usual, half a degree could make all the difference between white-out and wash-out!

Didn't you get some 'flakes' in Tenby today Ben?

I'm waiting for tomorrows run to confirm how much and when, but I'm almost certain we WILL get snow on Thursday, The upper air is cold, the ground is cold, it will be snowing at sea before it reaches land :D

Can anyone tell me what it's like in Kilgetty, Tenby or Saundersfoot please?

I'm at work in Pembroke Dock and it'd been throwing it down here for a few hours but not sticking, so disappointing!

I'm sure there was some in Kilgetty as well.. x

Keep an eye on the weather Thurs Jayne, if you're working your drive home might be longer than normal!
