Look north have showers for West Yorkshire and Western parts of North Yorkshire some  this evening and overnight giving a dusting Followed by a more persistent band of snow reaching the more western parts by around Noon giving around 4-5 hours of snow as it moves west to east how heavy and how much will be down to the day and higher routes will always do better when it comes to depth. Still lots of change possible as the low hasn’t developed yet so the exact track still isn’t nailed but the current run shows our entire region could see at least a few CMs almost anywhere. Looking forward to this evening for a bit of lamppost and radar watching as the showers roll in and look forward to tomorrow afternoon if it stays the course as we will have daylight snow.

Enjoy the ride everyone but most importantly stay safe on the roads

im quietly hoping thurs night is our time! it is according to overnighters! but worrysome that meto n bbc are bow being quiet on it because this morning the bbc were saying snow western n northern areas thurs nights but looking at meto website it has heavy snow midlands, i presume moving north. it dam well better be!!

Another flop by the looks of it, Tuesday is unlikely to deliver in Central areas due to the rain shadow.

Thursday is likely to miss the whole of Yorkshire now as well.

At this rate we could be looking at a whole winter without lying snow.

Regardless of the track of the lows this coming week I don't see it being feasible our region will stay dry.

A setup like this which is really quite unsettled and unstable is likely to create troughs etc which may pop up at short notice.  Not snowmageddon by any means but as long as we stay on the cold side of the jet then we might have a couple of nice surprises this week?

Re the North vs South thing being a Southerner living Oop Norf I don't really get the upset on either side.  If those annoying Southerners want to talk about their area live and let live I say.  There is nothing stopping us piling into the model thread mob handed and start lauding up Yorkshire's snow chances this week just to ruffle a few feathers!

What does annoy me though is if people refer to a run as being good or bad for snow when it is obvious they are talking about darn sarf and not the UK as a whole!

All in all a cold and hopefully white week to come for God's own county.  I still think February will be a cracking month for cold and snow as well despite some of the pessimism flying about.

Eyes down for the pub runs!

    great post!!

  6. is the south really going to get pummelled whilst we get didley squat all squat! if we miss out this week im afraid its wait until next winter because apart from the metos shockingly wrong forecast the longer range looks naff! feb sun growing in strength n march doesnt cut it unless you have something special but no doubt tgat will all get pushed into the midlands just like last years sliders.

I dont understand it - they keep saying low chance of East or NE winds, and at the start of the 16-30 dayer, they say it will be very cold, and its been the same for days - do the maths, either they just cannot be bothered to change the 16 dayer or they cannot be bothered to change the 30 dayer.

    lol i agree.

Incredible frigid cold seeping down into the US. This extreme is happening every winter now, no matter what the enso state is - it's ridiculous. Terrible for us as it always heads into the north Atlantic creating rapid cyclogenesis.

you have just summed it up perfectly.

no1 seems to have read my previous post!

why the meto on their money dont see these things is beyond me n they never admit there wrong!!
