The silence says it all…………. The low is dropping south….. all I can hope is for it to clip the Isle of Wight
Still time for change I guess?! Can someone say which models are showing what now and at what point does it become ‘nailed on’? Thankyou

So reading through the model forum it’s looking very likely no snow for us south coasters (again), I keep looking just on the off chance this changes - I’d just be happy with a couple hours decent snowfall that lays - enough to build a snowman then I’m happy until next winter but it’s been 5 or 6 years down here!!! Am I wasting my time or is there any chance for us next week? Thanks

Happy new year all thankyou all for all your hard work ‘weather reading’ for those of us who don’t have a clue but are snow chasers lol soo can someone just tell me is it looking promising for a cold spell (I live on the Isle of Wight so not overly promising for us I guess) thankyou

What I find annoying is reports about Britain in the freezer/The great freeze of Britain etc etc in the papers I live on the Isle of Wight we’ve literally had a few cold days and a brief flurry we now have heavy rain and wind! And next week double figure temps and more rain! They should be more specific in the headlines that’s the north! I’m really hoping we will get a decent cold spell and some snow at some point this winter it’s been 5 years Does anyone have a long term view for this south of the country?

Hope you all get some snow, I think I'm a bit too far north. South coast is looking good for a few cm of snow I'd say!
Isle of Wight???? Be rain I’m sure

The situation is complex, but I don't get why the mood is so downbeat.
We all know that snow is difficult to forecast more than 48 hrsout, but it is not the odd FI run that shows snow. Every run there is a serious number of Operationals and ensemble members that is good enough for snow. With these snow charts for this EC run, all of the UK, Ireland and Holland gets to see snow, with the exception of Devon, Kent and the Isle of Wight (sorry, guys).
You can complain later, but for this set most of you would have bitten off your hand two months ago.
Plus, with this chart at 240h, you're not talking about a smooth return of the Atlantic either:
Oh great thanks for that!

The last ‘proper’ snowfall on the Isle of Wight that laid was March 2018 surely we are due some?!!
