In my humble opinion, informing peeps of possibly incoming, damaging weather allows them to make an informed choice. NOT telling them takes away that ability to make an informed choice. If they inform, then it is your choice whether to take note or ignore it. If they don't inform then they have made the choice to ignore it for you. Which one is the nanny state? Weather warnings are dependent on probabilities. They don't dictate what weather you are 100% going to get. I don't begrudge a weather warning which alerts peeps to possible damaging weather just because the edge of the warning area was out by a few miles or because some in a more sheltered position didn't get it so bad. To repeat, it's all about allowing peeps to make an informed choice... operative word being informed.

This in spades.   Although tiktok generation seem to have lost agility and ability to use common sense.

Local gala day (lithgy marches) has a saying "safe out, safe in" which fits with how people should look after themselves.

My current thought's on how much snow could fall over the next few days in scotland. Don't shoot me if ya think I've gone too express lol but I really think these totals are possible. From my weather page:

    RED WARNING: 4/2/21 18z - 6/2/21 12z.

    (Red Area)

    Central/Eastern Scotland -

    *Imminent danger to life

    *Blocked Roads

    *Cuts to electricity/essential services

    10-20cm all levels

    20-40cm 200m+

    50-75cm 300m+

Could be some historical amounts of snow, only travel if absolutely essential, have winter supply's stocked in car if doing so.

    (Orange area)

Other parts of Central/Eastern scotland. Southern scotland.

    2-5cm Coastal fringes

    5-15cm All levels

    10-18cm 200m+

    15-30cm 300m+

Stay tuned, more updates and local analysis as this major event unfolds.

Needs the orange bit to have a clearly marked exclusion zone for snow around grangemouth as shield still working.

Wee question folks.  If you stay in a town on the south banks of the Forth but elevated up a hill, is that good positioning for a Forth streamer? Bo'ness can be a bit of a hit or a mis when it's coming from the West (big shout out to the Grangemouth snow shield ?) We were absolutely buried in 2010 and I am wondering if that was the cause.

I remember sledging down Carriden Brae in 2010 - It was fun.  Need to look out the photos and post on here (or even better take new ones - hopefully).  Kids are meant to be heading from the local school (the grange) to the riverside museum in Glasgow tomorrow - what's the chances of that happening?
