Amber has just been extended to my neck of the Wiltshire woods (aka farmland)

Finally the rain has stopped. Drove to Trowbridge at 5pm and the lanes were already covered in surface water. Some houses in our village have flooded I believe and our lane is under a few inches of water. Fingers crossed it will have receded by the time the sun rises.

West Wilts wind has picked up over the last hour. Rain seems to have reduced in rate. Sources: scientific VELUX window rain check and listening to the wind.
Bedside light has flickered a couple of times - the recently realised joys of over-ground electricity source after living towns for most of my life.

Hearing regular distant thunder rumbles here in Dorking. Somewhere nearby must be having a good storm.

Have one loud crack of thunder here in Dorking and now some more distant rumbles too

Fourth load of thunder in Dorksville this month. Along with biblical rain and hail.

Storming in Dorking. It needs to end in 45 minutes so I can walk home without the threat of being struck by lightning ️

Living north of Gatwick, I am playing a game of plane or thunder

First couple of rumbles heard in Dorking and rain has started. I was watching tv with my headphones on so not sure if there was anything earlier.

Suspect that the BBC updated using older data, as usual???
Conditions must have calmed sufficiently for Red Funnel to have restarted the vehicle ferry…we’ve just been loaded…. Fingers the drive up the A3 will be ok and will be back The Surrey hills by mid afternoon…. Will give you an update on conditions when we get there @FlightlessWings…our neighbour said we’ve got no power and is not too bad at the moment
Thanks . Still got power here. Safe crossing and onward travels.

Gusts are seriously picking up on the NE coast of the Isle of Wight. Nearly saw a family got blown away.
There seems to be a pattern of big gusts with overcast skies followed by sunny spells.- 1

We’re staying put on the island tonight as well I think…our neighbours in Holmbury are looking after our rabbits, I’ll get in an update from them soon…. My parents in Haywards Heath are saying not too bad there at the moment
I was supposed to be on the 9am from Fishborne.
The tide round here in Seaview is ridiculously high but there is still 2.5 hours until high tide. I have closed all the sea wall gates that were open overnight .Fingers crossed our corner of Surrey comes out unscathed. I still have anxiety about 1987 and I was only four!

A few meaty gusts starting here in Dorking. I'm praying that my neighbours overgrown tree comes down on his side of the fence rather than ours...
I am away on the IoW praying my roof stays on so will be good to hear your updates from Dorksville. I am in the process of selling and this could certainly derail the process slightly

Doesn't look like Dorking!
Where are you?
Ha ha, that is how high the tide is .
I am down on the Isle of Wight and was supposed to go home this morning. Decided to wait out the storm and head back tomorrow.

Stratiform clouds. Looks like cirrocumulus and doesn't really dictate a front. More showing wind veer or wind convergence
Brilliant, thanks for the answer
