  1. Burford Spur May be the area you went yesterday - you walk north of the view point and it is a big expense of green (or white hopefully). The view point is not looking great right now to be honest and snow steadily stopping. Not been our event really!
  2. It looks white but with a green tint - could be a centimetre or two but snow is still falling, although lightly. Burford Spur is still white from yesterday I believe (it was when I drove past it at 4pm yesterday).
  3. If you want to know if there is snow lying tomorrow just ask, I have a view of the lookout point all day!
  4. Thanks - I am off to somewhere they have plenty of snow the other side of the pond (booked as I was snow starved - which officially I still am...!). So happy for others in the region with all their snow. Also chuffed we had icicles today which has been one of my favourite weather related things since the crazy ones of my 1980s early childhood!
  5. I actually went up to Epsom for an appointment today - left a very sunny Dorking behind to arrive for the onset of a very heavy shower. We often get more than others but not this time. I am staying in Leatherhead tomorrow so I can be closer to the M25, just in case the snow hits hard on Thursday night/Friday. I also got some unexpected deep snow where I was staying on the 26th/27th December last year so at least I have seen some this winter!
  6. Yep, we have been a little out of the picture. I would like to say that I am happy about the lack of disruption as I have so much work to do before going on holiday on Friday (or perhaps not). But then I would be lying to myself...
  7. I was just in sunny Dorking and drove up to Epsom for an appointment and you would think it is a different world!
  8. Ah, a lot of people I work with are down that way. They were confused about there being no snow in Dorksville. I tried to explain why but not sure it really stuck (a bit like today’s snow).
  9. I have to say, snow or no snow, this weather system has led to some incredible clouds and sunsets so far. Not sure if any of you have seen this tweet and picture of London from the police helicopter. Stunning.
  10. Was a very short shower in Dorking. Can still see the stars (and planes ?) in some directions.
  11. A day of showers on and off in Dorking and in Kingston during my hospital appointment this afternoon. No snow on my way home but stopped at Denbies vineyard on the way home and the sky was beautiful
  12. Dorking’s microclimate at play again - has snowed continuously from 8am this morning, sometimes really light and other times almost a blizzard. Snow cover on the heady heights of Box Hill!
  13. Hi! The easterly winds have made it seem as if the planes have been taking off from outside my house. Luckily easterlies aren’t prevailing so it doesn’t happen too often. We often see snow up on Box, Holmbury and Leith Hills and Dorking certainly has it’s own microclimate. Not sure if that will be a good or bad thing this week.
  14. Hi, I’ve been lurking for a week or two but thought I would join the fun. Hardly anyone I know has any interest in weather (the girls at work laughed at me on Friday when I mentioned something about the upcoming cold snap!). Bit worried as I have a flight on Friday which was initially booked to take me to some snow having been so starved! Oh the irony. It is clouding over in Dorking - the clouds are amazing, like ripples in sea water - picture does not really do it justice. Wind obviously biting.
