  1. 3 flakes just flew past the street lamp outside!
  2. Think that's the last decent one we had, all the others recently have either been too far South going out into the sea or have fizzled out by the time they get over so you only get a crack of thunder For someone who loves both snow and storms I really need to move to a better location
  3. Yep I remember in the 90's it being regularly snowy, nothing major but enough to be pleased about It's the same with thunder storms though, we seemed to get more in the 80's and 90's than we do now The 00's and 10's have been horrible for weather apart from 09 and 10 for the winter
  4. Not the coast you don't There's some areas which are so far East they should be classed as North Central instead of North West but then again when you live on the coast everybody is an Easterner
  5. Midnight tonight, there's a chance that band slowly moving through the whole of UK currently in the midlands will veer and hit us providing it keeps enough ppn, that's our last chance then it's game over I reckon
  6. Need the North Sea to get really active via Hull to have any hope of anything decent coming our way otherwise the only decent clump of snow we have on offer is the one currently south of Bradford but no doubt the hills will destroy it
  7. Yep there's some life appearing out near Hull with some bands passing through Leeds/Bradford now
  8. I'm presuming it's from the East as the NE has started getting bands coming in off the N Sea in the past hour or 2
  9. The one getting blown closer to Ireland by the Easterly ? Notice the North Sea is firing up the snow machine again in the NE (red circle) What we need and probably what the charts are expecting is more bands to fire up directly East from York (green circle) for the Easterly to blow over us Think that's our only hope right now
  10. Leeds Bradford too so there's a chance we might just get something
  11. If the Easterly would lose some strength we'd have a better shout of the stuff in the midlands hitting us
  12. Fear not guys That new snow baby being born between Denmark and Norway and the bit over Holland is going to merge with what's moving North and give us a mega snow event!
  13. The Earths magnetic field is also weakening https://www.livescience.com/46694-magnetic-field-weakens.html So it will be interesting to see what effect this adds to our climate in combination with everything else going on https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/impacts/space-weather-impacts-climate Particularly the importance of cosmic rays as I believe a weakened magnetic field results in more cosmic rays being able to pass through and there's definite science in the relation between the rays with temperatures and storm systems However all this is rarely new science so there's still a lot of study to be done, certainly fascination just how much of our climate in short scale terms is affected by sources not of this world
  14. 6/10 for cold, a few days in late Feb doesn't make up for what has been a fairly bang average winter 4/10 overall 2010 as the benchmark
  15. Yes for late Feb/Start of March it has certainly been cold, still nowhere near close to the -16 in December of 2010 though Not sure what's happened overnight, the remaining snow that was from Tuesday has either melted or sublimated as there's less of it, the ponds are still frozen over even though it's supposedly 1 to 2 degrees here, wind is still a little wild but nothing to write home about
  16. Snow is getting rarer http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-43158532 No surprise that Merseyside gets mentioned Wind is starting to pick up some steam now. still no snow
  17. lol a high today of 0.2 degrees at nearly 11pm, guess it's bye to the beast and winter and hello to spring
  18. One thing I hate about snow is there's no audible cue to its arrival so I have to waste effort going to look out the window to see if that dark blue radar return that's been over me for 3 hours now is actually a reality which it isn't
  19. The wind isn't bad here on the coast though, it's more like a gusty breeze than anything severe, would probably be bad if it was coming in from the West though
  20. Those little western outcrops where weather seemingly stops existing
  21. Last decent event was 2011 and 2010 we had close to a foot of snow then both times and icicles hanging off the roof which was a first, that's the last exciting weather and before that it would likely be going back to the 90's for anything decent. but hey at least we've got a rainy spring with 5 days of sunshine and then a rainy summer with a week of sun in June 2 weeks in July and a week in August and the disappointment of watching storms flare up all around us but conveniently lose their energy as soon as they come within sneezing distance to look forward to before another bang average winter
  22. Radar still broken, still no snow, not even freezing rain
  23. Only if the radar is accurate which I don't think it is
