And you're just about under a yellow.
The snow is sliding off my conservatory roof in great clumps at the moment...startling! Going out for a walk.

UK Warnings
Thursday 1 March Published at 20:37Weather Warning
Issued by the Met OfficeRED WARNING OF WIND & SNOW for South West England, and Wales
Between 15:00 Thu 1st and 02:00 Fri 2nd
A spell of heavy snow and blizzard conditions is expected. The snow will be accompanied by very strong easterly winds leading to severe drifting. Some places could also see significant ice build up due to freezing rain from later on Thursday evening, most likely in the south of the area. Long delays and cancellations of public transport seem highly likely. Some roads are likely to become blocked by deep snow, stranding vehicles and passengers. Long interruptions to power supplies and other utilities are very likely to occur, along with damage to trees and other structures due to heavy snow or ice.
Except that was issued much earlier than 20:37. At 0520 they were saying Red Warning started at 1600, but by 1100, they'd brought it forward to 1500.
Think about it: not much point issung a "warning" at 20:37 that the weather will be bad 5 hours earlier.....

Ah I thought it was issued at 20:41 ?
No, it was on Radio 4 at 5.20 am, before it started snowing here at at 7 am, and repeated throughout the morning on R4 and Radio Wales (probably on Radio Fymru too but I didn't check)

Radar shows it fizzling out over Newport and reforming over Cwmbran and Y Fenni.

Had around 30cm over the last three days in the north east. Still a little envious of thy radar!
enjoy it folks - very rare
I was up your way (on Yarm Road) a few weeks back - cold but no snow. Stay safe.

Will the Big Yellow Blob hit us, its getting close
Sadly not, it seems, the red pocket that developed NW of Wells knocked it out. It's like watching the curling (or bowls)

If this snow keeps up it's going to be crazy in the morning. At the moment dropping 3cm an hour increasing to 6 soon.
Mine's gained at least an inch in the last hour...now up to the cats' bellies (only one brave enough this time I opened the door!) All previous paw print evidence obliterated.

Its good to see a few more people happy in here and thats before the main event. What i'm taking from it is the temp that is -4 ( i cant remember seeing snow at that temp and probably 40-50 mph wind., both very unusual.
<nod> The temperature dropped noticeably at 1100, and the snow stopped. Didn't start back up until it warmed up again about 1200 noon

What's everyone's snow totals so far? At least 5 inches here with 2ft+ drifts.
3 to 4 inches in the sheltered back garden, but less out the front with the wind moving it around.

Right now we should be under a yellow warning here in SE Wales. Nothing whatsoever severe about the weather today thus far. It doesn't even warrant an amber to be honest.
Expect the red warning to be removed from our area.
It's been snowing all day here, bar an hour 1100-1200, and it's up to about 2 to 3 inches. Wind is increasing and it seems I could have got to and from work today as the bridges are still open. Mind you, the office closed at 1300 anyway...Not life threatening....yet!
