Yeah just had it, lack of wind is helping as its not been blown all over the place
I think the lack of wind is helping shower growth too. Showers seem to be starting to beef themselves up a little

Seems like the minor showers that are hitting the coast of Redcar are just fizzling out...
-
I think the current setup is quite encouraging for Teesside especially right now, there seems to be abit of a backlog of showers developing.
The showers also seem to be more organised in general across the region

Watching the cloud roll in from Hartlepool direction looks pretty mean

Makes total sense. The thing I'd like to know though is when the cap will be removed. I can't make any sense of the CIN charts at the minute.
Watching the Sat 24 over and over again it does look like the stubborn cloud is shifting just ever so slowly

Out of curiosity what makes a streamer? What are we looking for on radar?

Looking through the charts and models for this morning theres a Cap on over our region at the moment keeping the convection shallow (cap at around 4-5000ft) u can see this when the showers die out leaving a cloudbase around there good thing is when this cap goes towers should reach a height of around 23000ft (cumulonimbus)
How long do we reckon this cap will remain?

So does anyone know what time Teesside got hit this morning and what’s the radar looking like now?
Happened around an hour or so ago, was nice to watch. Shame there is abit of a break in showers over Teesside now but hopefully not for long

Watching the sequence over and over again I don't think we are to far away now (admittedly it seems to be taking an age) but if you compare between 20:00 and 21:00 there is a large difference.
My guess is things will look different in the next couple of hours

What is it going to take for this graupel to turn to snow?

Looks a lot more organised snow coming in on the border now?
To honest it doesn't just look at the border, showers out to sea seem to be intensifying slightly

How long do we reckon it will be before that low down south shifts itself out the way?
-
Showers should get heavy and are showing signs of that both on radar and on the ground.
So whilst we wait for things to get going properly shall we have a few guesses at max. Snow accumulations in the region this week

See that as a positive, you will be dry, it is soaked here.
It's hard to see how snow will accumulate but we shall see

Looking outside it's hard to imagine how much different this going to get in the next few hours

Shame really as others have pointed out there's plenty of opportunity in the North Sea now
-
Out of curiosity does anyone know the reasoning why our showers have now turn to sleet or rain were the rest of the country seem to continue to get snow

I believe this is the shower that I mentioned earlier, looking pretty good
