Must admit, it's nice to see the storms forum more active again after the winter off season. So far (although I've only had a few rumbles myself) april and the storm season in general has been off to a good start for quite a few peeps. Some lovely convective cloudscapes have been keeping me entertained, both near home and further afield including two cb's I spotted that had formed wall clouds on a trip back from Norfolk last thursday afternoon (sadly I was driving on the M11 at the time so couldn't stop to take pictures) and some other cb's with huge rain cores I saw on the horizon before later punching through on the same journey. The sky was really talking that day.
Looks like we've got a bit of a lull coming up with a Scandanavian high moving in, but even so my confidence for a good season has been boosted by what we've seen so far.
Same man, would love to see what the next few months brings.

Tall clouds are building to the north of my location and some decent rain ahead of it, still no lightning activity though

Does anyone know when exactly lightning activity will start over East Anglia?
-
Looks like East Anglia could see their first proper storms today.

Anyone else notice that weird thunderstorm between Northern Ireland and Scotland? Looks like there's some heavy precipitation in that storm.

Looks like some parts of Bedfordshire are going to reach wind gusts of over 60mph tonight.

the post you replied to mentioned thundersnow near the coasts ……..that's why i asked - you seemed to be excited at the prospect of seeing it!
Yes - I get excited if somewhere like London will get thundersnow tomorrow because if it's nighttime you will be able to see the cumulonimbus potentially holding the thundersnow from my bedroom window. Last year (March 2018) I saw the little flickers of lightning in the cloud when the storm was Margate!

4 Lightning strikes reported 40 miles North West with heavy precipitation. Currently got my DSLR out the window to see if I can catch anything.

Just a quick heads up to you "thunder freaks", who live close to our southern coastline. We are in a similar situation to where we were a few weeks ago. Very unstable air flowing over relatively high SST's, in the English Channel. Charts for tomorrow show showers running on to the Kent/Sussex coast, in an unstable S.W. flow. Those areas could see some heavy, squally and perhaps thundery showers, tomorrow. Charts show some CAPE, out in the Channel.
Regards,
Tom.
Why is it alwayyssss in the channel
