My allotment is a write-off. The persistent dull damp weather has resulted in rapid weed growth and a slug explosion so all the leafy crops planted out in the preceeding bone dry period which failed to establish properly have now been destroyed. Time to throw in the towel, I don't know how to get anything decent out of an allotment with these randomised wet and dry seasons.

Mine too. Pumpkins rotting, most plants pale yellow due to lack of sun and poor crops due to being too wet for the bees to do their thing. We wont even talk about the weed growth.

Staying put in a hotel in Compton Bassett , Wiltshire. Low voltage cable and big trees everywhere.  Candles and torches ready.  Think breakfast here tomorrow will be a cold buffet in candle light. God only knows what trees will come down.

I am about half an hour away from compton. We do have a lot of trees. I remember '87. Longleat forest was decimated.

i have found the lack of interest in the upcoming storm from uk news agencies very odd, they have not got a clue whats about to happen more interested in Royal family issues

I keep telling my family how bad its going to be and i think they think i am banging on about nothing. Hardly anything on the news.

The wind is picking up here quite a bit; didn't realise we were meant to get such strong winds from Dudders but it's probably gusting around 50mph right now.. doesn't bode well for Eunice.

Agreed. Here in wilts the conservatory is a creaking and a leaking already. Wheelie bins  blown over too.

As a newbie to posting and more an observer, I believe we are at the cusp of some very interesting weather. I am not very knowledgeable regarding the models etc, but am a firm believer of chaos theory. We are experiencing some unusual weather patterns around the globe. Its only a matter of time before its our turn. Expect the unexpected.

Agreed. My friend in Southern Alabama had the air con on it was so warm then the next day she woke up to 2 inches of snow. Odd weather

It’s not weird at all for Longleat. We go there frequently and it has its own microclimate. Often foggy when Warminster is clear. Often drizzly when Warminster is just cloudy. Always gets more snow than Warminster. Often calmer when Warminster is windy.

I should have said eerie although I have not seen fog and snow together. Mind you I have no been working there for 8 mnths
