  1. BBC have just shown Thursdays event to not quite reach the region. Room for change yet though.
  2. Hi, noticed that earlier, but check the precipitation levels - it's lighter than light. Won't amount to anything I wouldn't think.
  3. I've just woken up to find the covering we had completely gone and that it's raining
  4. We've had snow here for most of the day, got really light now, few inches still accumulated in places but all roads are clear. I don't envisage it getting any heavier although there is a lot of light precipitation around which might pep up?
  5. My view is that we are warmer due to man's activities but this will not overide natural cycles and we are infact act the beginning of a colder phase, which may not be as cold as previous cold cycles but will be colder than the last 20 years.
  6. I said a few months ago North West England one of the worst places in the UK for snow. We've got an inch or two covering here this morning and have had a couple this winter so I'm not complaining myself, but some parts of the North West really are snow starved. The only direction that truly delivers for those locations is the North Westerly but 9/10 the airmass is not cold enough from that direction.
  7. I think it was just a sleet/rain event from the start here
  8. Very light snow now falling in South Manchester at 11.29pm
  9. Three independent witnessess of a few very fine flakes of snow here in Manchester approx 12.15 today. A cold day and mainly cloudy. Temperature now at -1c
  10. Do you mean that in a similar set up in recent years we have seen half an hour of snow quickly turning to heavy rain??
  11. After I expressed an interest in the weather in the pub a few hours ago I got pressed into a summer forecast. One guy had apparenly heard it was all good from now untill September. I offered up a few guarded opinions, which were lambasted as "bloody hell, talk about sitting on the fence, you sound like the professional weather forecasters!". In the end I went with a summer close to average, possibly slightly below. No long periods of heat but not as bad as last year. Any opinions?
  12. Thunder, Lightining, Heavy Rain & Hail. Very Windy
  13. Many thanks for this very interesting post acbrixton, particularly the part highlighted below.
  14. I think Saturday will end up being THE event to be honest, especially here
  15. Local weather station in Flixton, Manchester is recording a whopping 33.4 deg C at the moment!
  16. Judging by the met office radar looks like some precip heading my way here in manchester. Gone very dark... Nope it's rain
