Hope so Lance. Last night was fair but too much crud so only a handful of photos caught something decent!
plus the rain was mental.- 1

The rain is horrendous. Totally soaked, had to pull over to wait for it to pass. Lightening still frequent - not bad just wish there was more sound!

It’s a very quiet storm -
-
Lots of flashes All around however barely any CGs - too much rain?

Into serious radar watching territory now. The UKV has things kicking off in that circle pretty much from now onward. I love but hate this part where we wait for initiation. I want to be in that car knowing that things are happening and with the adrenaline pumping
Totally with you in bed with a film, everything's ready by the door in a grab bag..

Why are you in the boot?
Because I do not want to get my camera wet. I have it set up so we both stay dry

That's weird. This webcam shows nothing, and it's a Solent view!
Solent View - Isle of Wight Webcams
ISLEOFWIGHTWEBCAMS.CO.UKI’m Hayling East - the camera just showed some flashes but it’s definitely died down now. Rain is quite heavy and I’m in the boot of my car

The rumbles are getting more deeper & longer which is nice to hear, but it’s mainly flashes. Barely any CGs at the moment. The ships are slowly disappearing in the wall of rain.

Currently on Hayling, it’s very bright so far. Just need to find decent shelter

I’m being incredibly indecisive right now, my plans were to go to Worthing - I’ve had my power nap. But my gut feeling is to maybe wait it out here at Southsea

Anyone chasing tonight, I would stick with anywhere east of the IOW to the Wash, this is going by the average call by the high res models. Going to be very touch and go for me. I’m literally right on the boundary of the warning lines. Likely I will see a good show to my direct East and Southeast if I stay put. A small trip along the A47 towards Nodge could be required.
I will most likely go towards Worthing. Taking my uniform and pillow just in case it’s a late late one!- 5

Torrential rain currently, definitely needed & the air feels so much better!
not had rain like this for a long time.
Feels like I’m waiting for that ‘Boom’- 3

Waking up to the sound of rain is quite possibly the best noise

Unbelievable the one day I’m working & it all kicks off early

Small bit of rain just now, was hoping for something more. Stuck in the kitchens past few days sitting at 45 at least, flats currently 26 - I need air
-
Definitely low rumble I’ve just heard. Will venture to the seafront but that is all for tonight. Good luck all

Talk about change in weather.
Kitchen hit 39.8 degrees by midday & now it’s gusty, car is covered in crud but it’s still humid.

Wow, great pictures!
What a great start it was, unfortunately it became mostly sheet lightning shortly after this point, but I still loved every second
I must have been a bit closer to the Pier than you.
That positive bolt you caught is nice, classic positive
Photographing lightning can be frustrating at times, you can have the best composition ever, but too bright, and it's almost impossible to recover the shot, and too faint is just as frustrating
Did you shoot raw? If so, you would be amazed how much you can transform a picture that is just on the edge of acceptable
Thanks! There were a few others taking pictures under the shelter, I did wonder if it was you -
No I shot in JPEG & possibly raw - however I need a new laptop that can cope with raw files then I can start to learn. I also only use long exposure, I saw a few with triggers - but for me that takes the fun out of shooting.

Currently on top of ports down towards Fareham, bolts are bold & brass but needs to be just a tad closer
