I've came to the conclusion that they hate mentioning snow or the possibility of it. In fact I think they hate the weather or talking about it.
yes, implied we had missed the bad weather and then showed a map with much of the country getting pasted tomorrow lol

Are we sure that the (unforecasted) system in n England isn't coming our way?
Radar shows it just south of Newcastle

Well, my toys are at the reathe anyone want to play 'Catch'? I'm about to flounce off and have a humungous sulk. Anyone care to join me?
bring the cold and the snow shall follow
frontal attacks from the west, convection from the east - charts still fine in the reliable tf

Having watched BBC Scotland forecast tonight feel a bit disappointed, shows tonight's showers mostly only affecting east coast south of Edinburgh, dying out around Aberdeen soon and not much if anything down through Angus and Dundee area. Then it's dry but cold all the way through to Thursday across Scotland. It was only yesterday we had forecasts for snow bands Tuesday and Wednesday all now downgraded. Anyway chin up as we now look towards the weekend, and the possibilities showing up from what I read in the kilted thread (although LS already making me nervous again as he mentions marginality of uppers etc)
A wee trip into model thread called for I think to read up on the detail of the model outputs today.
For the flip side, maybe check out the met office warnings for your area covering tonight and tomorrow

clouding over in Dundee now cant see the moon anymore
Ditto north Edinburgh, feels warmer, more moisture in the air

Weatherpro (iPad app - sorry, don't know what source it uses) has just upgraded wintry ppn chances. Edinburgh 55% from 21:00. Dundee 40% from 21:00.

beeb going for a (wet) snow event tonight in many parts of the central belt
anyone know if this could upgade and hit lower levels?
staying up late for muzza; might be nice to have some lamppost watching to keep the dog & I entertained

Exactly.
people have been out on the ice all week; mum and bro walked out to an island yesterday and said that it is absolutely stunning!
I am going skating there tomorrow (can't wait); I have no plans to sue anyone if I break a leg.

dark skies over North Edinburgh, but the thick stuff remains to the east; heading south west (I think) v frustrating at the mo

It is entirely possible, especially today with the winds from the northeast. I'm hoping it won't just skirt round the east side of Fife before hitting Edinburgh as that would be utter hell for everyone in Fife seeing the snow missing by about 5 miles! My rule for today for any Fifers looking for snow - if SP33 / Sawel report it, then we're getting hit. If not, then probably not. Edinburgh has a bit of a higher chance of seeing it as it has more southerly direction to push westwards a bit. Anywhere that gets hit is likely to see quite a lot of snow, but as always there will be people who are left disappointed.
great stuff, thanks for that
last night was frustrating in Edinburgh; drizzly sleety light snow that never got going in spite of the radar promising otherwise

Hi; been lurking here + reading the general model output threads since 2004 working at home today & enjoying the covering that we still have here at Victoria Park in Edinburgh (unheard of in these parts)
thanks to all for the informative posts; what a great site!
Is it possible for snow from Fife to make it over the Forth to Ednburgh? (or does it have to be from the East?)
crossing everything for a snowy dog walk later.

I think you should pl!
I'm going out in town for a tapas meal tomorrow evening from work - and I fully expect to come out to moderate snow at 9pm

Lorenzo, many thanks for posting the NMM charts
Underlines just how much land the precip has to pass over to hit the central belt, even with ESE
