Wasn't much of interest. A thunderstorm on 18th June and then one around 8th July provided the most interest. 18th June had a proper gulleywasher with hail included.

In no particular order:
Intense night-time thunderstorm, August 5th 1997, Jersey, when camping. A man got electrical burns from lightning nearby on the campsite.
Intense night-time thunderstorm in Limoges, France that blew up the power in July 1999.
Thunderstorms in Dubai on 9th March 2016, which caused street flooding, and the Burj Khalifa had lightning come off the top when I went on the outside deck in the storm on the 148th floor. Part of the time I was also inside the storm cloud.
Continuous lightning in a storm in Windsor, Berkshire 3rd July 1999.
Thundery squall line with hail on 31st January 2013 in Buxton, Derbyshire
Thunderstorm that was tornadic when I was in Lincoln on 29th September 2006. Extremely loud thunder.
Beast from east in March 2018 memorable for the big snow drifts and as I was living in an unheated flat in Buxton, Derbyshire, indoor temps got down to 1°C.
July 2007 for the constant rainy days and floods.
December 1990 midlands blizzard that was my first ever weather memory.
Thunderstorm at night in Staffordshire, July 6th 1991 I believe, first thunderstorm memory.

I'd lose snow. Useless rubbish.

90°C, in Buxton, Derbyshire.
That is, in a sauna at the Palace Hotel.
Otherwise, it's 39°C in Sheffield, UK on 19th July 2022.
I haven't travelled enough, clearly.

16°C... feels quite nice.

Mmmmmm well there's been so much wonderful sunshine here lately with all of this cold of course!! Oh wait........ NOT.

17.8°C in the computer room. Heating is on lower because my last month's bill was stupidly high.

Absolutely bucketed it down here yet again this morning. Now the wettest year on record here statistically, and neatly 50% wetter than average! Incredible. Flooding and standing water everywhere. If I hear anybody bleating about "we-e-e-e-e ne-e-e-e-d more rai-ai-ai-ai-n" I will personally strangle 'em with me bare hands!!!

Locally it's about the become the wettest year ever recorded since I've lived in the Sheffield area with well over 1,120mm of rain. Been an exceptionally wet year here. Exceptionally wet. I'm turning into a fish.

Another 12.2mm of rain overnight, taking us to 107.6mm (166%) for the month. It's now comfortably the 3rd wettest October since 1980 here and comes after July, August and September had 183%, 133% and 148% of average rainfall.
An outside chance of beating my lowest ever recorded air pressure this week depending on where the low tracks. My current lowest is 954.8hPa recorded on 30th October 2000.
We have 200% of the average rainfall here, right in the middle of the worst of it.
-
Bin a very wet month locally. Since midcoctober there's bin a rain cloud over here all day every day nearly, with no sun and record flooding and record rainfall amounts.
-
Heating is on now. Since an accident last week where I broke bones I can't move about much. Interesting how quickly my cold tolerance disappears when I'm not exercising/losing fitness.
-
Not yet. It's still 16 degrees inside. When it gets to 12-13 ill put it on.

For a weather enthusiast's site I can't understand folk getting into a frenzy over some wind and rain. It's rough weather. Get used to it for the next 7 months.
For goodness sake.
OK. So. Here's the thing, see.
I'm a keen bicyclist (yes, one of the most hated groups of people, even though I'm considerate, and don't break rules like running red lights etc...)
So, here are some of the hazards that mean I get restricted in my bicycling activities in wet and windy weather:
- Puddles - can be deep and hiding potholes and other hazards especially. One of my cycling friends took a tumble after hitting a hidden pothole in a puddle, went over the handlebars, smashed his face in. Sold his bike the next day
- Wind - especially traversing the peak district, a strong crosswind can easily blow one across the road, and into the fast 50mph traffic. Nearly happened to me before. Lesson learned
- Wet roads - poor braking distance, especially for a bike, which has a longer braking distance than a car. Risk of skidding over when breaking especially downhill. Yes, happened before. Lesson learned
- Wet roads - splashing mud and water all over you, and the bike. Bike must be cleaned comprehensively after the ride.
- On that note, bike parts go rusty kinda quickly when they get wet
- Electrical equipment on bike starts to play up if it gets waterlogged (such as the bike computer)
- Getting soaking wet - even in light rain, and especially windy weather, added to the speed of the bike you will get a comprehensive soaking, and it will go through almost anything you wear
- Having to wear coats etc... is impractical, as it stops you having the required flexibility to adequately ride the bicycle
I hope this makes sense.
For goodness sake.

Where's the mists and mellow fruitfulness. This is the worst of the worst for us folks who enjoy outdoor activities. Don't mind cold but not this windy wet rubbish.

Maybe if people stop denying the facts it won't keep getting resurrected.
Facts: July was 0.9°C cooler than average here (I've been recording the weather since 2007, and use official met office statistics). July had 112 hours of sunshine here, which is about 70 below average. July had 152mm of rain here, which was almost three times the average.
August had 151 hours of sunshine here - 30 less than average.
All facts. Any impressions anyone might have of July and August being poor, are supported by these facts, especially in my area.
Your statements that people who have experienced the summer as mostly poor are "denying the facts", are simply wrong. Based on - the Met Office statistics, available on their website.
For example, it's not hard to access the data:
Monthly data for a plethora of weather stations (this example is Sheffield):
https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/pub/data/weather/uk/climate/stationdata/sheffielddata.txt
Long term climate averages most relevant to this time in history (this example is Sheffield):
Sheffield Cdl (South Yorkshire) UK climate averages
WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK
Sheffield Cdl UK climate averagesSo it's a matter of comparing the numbers for the relevant months (for say, avg. max, avg. min, precipitation, sunshine hours) against the long term average. July and August were clearly poorer than average for people who like sunnier, drier and warmer summer weather, if you know basic addition subtraction (for example, July's avg. max of 21.4 minus July 2023's avg. max = 1.3°C difference), so, July 2023 being 1.3°C cooler than the long term average.

I heard 3-4 rumbles and saw two lightning flashes but it's all going now.
-
So glad to be on the correct side of the front today. 15°C here - and overcast. Blissful.

Sweet booger all here, what a surprise
-
21 degrees, overcast with drizzle here. Whoopie whoopie what excitement.

No storms here since July, and missed the lot this month as well so I'm going storm chasing tomorrow, had enough of missing out. I expect to see insane lightning with insane hail and insane winds and insane rain and insane loud loud loud thunder all afternoon tomorrow.
Worryingly Wet & Worryingly Sunless

Been an awfully depressing March so far, much worse than the springlike February which was great. Just cold, boring rotten low grey tupperware skies everyday and no weather to speak of.
