  1. It stayed beautifully clear all night/early hours, then started to cloud over in the NW about an hour or so ago, it's slow to clear and it's now becoming too light. Oh well, hopefully there's a few more chances before the season is out. Did they put in an appearance?
  2. Some fine white wispy NLC threads started to appear about 3.20am, managed to capture what bit I could see, again apologies for the poor quality.
  3. Yes, there's some improvement weatherwise next week, have a safe journey and have a great holiday.
  4. Might have breathed in too much Mr. Sheen whilst cleaning, but I'm sure there's blue skies to the south of me.
  5. The hills around Macclesfield have been covered in mist all day, this evening they are not even visible. This weather really shortens the days when we should be enjoying long daylight hours, l think it's around the 20th of this month that the lingering twilight starts to diminish and by the end of the month we are back to true darkness again. I agree with you all tis more like Autumn.
  6. I woke up a few times pre dawn, l now find myself automatically checking the skies out through my bedroom window, clear sky but not a hint of NLCs. Had to break two cats up scrapping in the back garden at some point after sunrise, Venus had taken centre stage in the east, so bright, golden and stunning.
  7. I really need to invest in a camera. Loving all the photos everyone posts.
  8. Fantastic photos you've all taken, l managed to observe it for a while through my binoculars, they are not the worlds strongest but I could clearly see the nucleus and the tail shooting from it was like an orange firework, amazing. Neither of my tablets or phone managed to pick it up for a photo. To the naked eye it looked like a faint orange line and the clouds that kept obscuring my view were a pain, but l persevered and thoroughly enjoyed myself.
  9. Sorry poor quality photos, but managed to catch these about 2:25am, far too much cloud got in the way. Managed to watch the comet for quite a while through my binocs, again when cloud wasn't in the way. Drove over the opposite side of the hill and had a look at Jupiter and saturn. Called it a night about half three, thoroughly enjoyed myself.
  10. I'm not a million miles from you, so far I have quite fast moving cloud, but with some decent pockets of clear sky inbetween, so fingers crossed.
  11. Despite it being a sunny evening the wind is deceivingly cold, my light summer jacket wasn't much protection against it walking home from work not so long ago, and I too have noticed my breath condensating at night and early morning. It is dire for July. Hoping the clouds clear for some NLC and comet viewing tonight and in the early hours.
  12. Not in work tomorrow, so an all nighter for me. Fingers crossed the clouds won't be doing an all nighter too.
  13. I hope we don't have another 'grimter' endless mild, grey wet days, where the only snow I'll see is on the hills or on the the tops of cars.
  14. Glad some of us caught a viewing last night, great to see the pics posted. Saw some lovely web cam views from Poland and a cracking one from Copenhagen, Denmark using the links posted by @Arnie Pie on page 5 of this thread. Still, you can't beat seeing them with your own eyes though.
  15. Fortunately l was off work that week, even though the storms went all around Macclesfield in every conceivable direction l managed to watch some cracking cells over Manchester from a vantage point. Sigh, what a week that was. Was thinking earlier that this time last year was the run up to all the unprecedented amounts of rain that was about to hit the North West towards the end of the month, resulting in the partial collapse of the Todbrook Dam in Whaley Bridge, leading to the towns evacuation the beginning of August. We don't want a repeat of that or the floods that hit most of the region. Been rather pleasant here this evening, a bit of a breeze, nice conditions for a walk. Hope weather improves for your holiday to the Llyn Peninsula, which month have you booked?
  16. Hope you're enjoying your good weather, having a cool and wet start to July here, hopefully it wont be a repeat of July 2019, where the North West had unprecedented amounts of rainfall, caused all sorts of chaos with flooding, which led to the crisis in Whaley Bridge when the dam of the reservoir became critically unsafe and the town was evacuated the beginning of August. Seems like yesterday, still time though for July to pick up. Stay safe.
  17. Still struggling for a view here, I've got NBCs, nowt but clouds. Humph.
  18. My view is clouded out at the moment. Please keep posting any photos, thanks.
  19. But........yes, mother natures going to draw the curtains on any viewing again. I can't believe how time is flying for NLCs this season, soon be August. Didn't mean to sound dismissive of the rest of the season. At least there are some great pictures to look back on.
  20. Looked out about 2:15am, there seemed to be a small chink of brightness sandwiched between thick cloud and the horizon, this was in a more NE direction. Just thick cloud in the N. Given the time, it was too early to mistake it for sunrise. Did anyone else see anything?
  21. I wonder if volcanic activity would be classed as 'other disturbances' and may be instrumental in gravity waves breaking into the mesosphere. Some research for another day for me l think.
  22. Sorry theres a few Ogulin cams, it's on the Ogulin live panorama cam.
  23. Whatsupcams Ogulin Croatia, very lively cell on this cam at the moment, lightning frequent, but quite visible embedded within the structure, you can just make out the shape of the anvil.
  24. Who is still left in the no storms club? Hopefully not many.
  25. I totally agree about the extremes, I've unplugged my bedroom fan for the time being, and had my heating on for a short while today. The plants outside look like they have done two rounds with A.J.
