Actually very unusual that one. Constant wall to wall lightning for just 30ish minutes. All in the clouds and a constant low rumble bit like a distant jet passing over. No rain though.

I seem to remember years ago that storms fairly regularly used to make their way up from the continent over Dorset and Somerset. Never seems to happen now. Always East, West, or North of us. Seem to have a storm shield. Fingers crossed that something gets through later....

Never fails to amaze me. Someone I work with recorded 35c today. Storm warnings all week yet so far not a cloud in the sky, something was building about an hour ago but just dispersed. Nothing down here tonight methinks!

Looks like the start of an anvil cloud forming east of me towards Shaftesbury. Unbelievably clammy too.

All I can say, if we dont get a good thunderstorm after enduring this blistering heat down here in Sherborne then there is no justice!!

Can't believe the storm North of Bude is still going on. Must be 3hrs now. Strange how it is just sitting in that one place....

Wall to wall unbroken blue skies down here in South Somerset/North Dorset. If the bbc forecast is to be believed then it may kick off during the early hours. Fingers crossed!

Had a short but very loud storm in Dorset today. Thought we'd missed out but it was right overhead. Simultaneous lightning and shotgun thunder. Surrounding roads a foot deep in flood water in places. All in less than an hour. So glad we didn't completely miss out

Never seen lightning as constant as that. An amazing spectacle. Thunder was like a plane going over. No break at all.

Storms have been sadly absent from South Somerset for a while. Here's hoping to make up for it tonight!!
