I think I’m a similar age too. I remember the summer of 1976 very well, we holidayed in North Wales and every day seemed hot and sunny. I also remember during my childhood that Septembers were cool and misty and there were far more frosts in winter than we have now. Even in the 90s during winters I remember having to scrape ice off my car before going to work far more frequently than I do now.
You’re absolutely right, I remember those moderate summers of my childhood. We could enjoy trips, or go exploring without fear of getting overheated. My favourite weather, though, has to be clear, crisp, frosty and cold.
