  1. I think I’m a similar age too. I remember the summer of 1976 very well, we holidayed in North Wales and every day seemed hot and sunny. I also remember during my childhood that Septembers were cool and misty and there were far more frosts in winter than we have now. Even in the 90s during winters I remember having to scrape ice off my car before going to work far more frequently than I do now.
  2. Yes, I saw Becky Mantin, ITV News, reporting on it about a quarter of an hour ago.
  3. You’re absolutely right, I remember those moderate summers of my childhood. We could enjoy trips, or go exploring without fear of getting overheated. My favourite weather, though, has to be clear, crisp, frosty and cold.
  4. Thanks SollyOlly, I enjoy sunshine whatever the season but I’ll never understand the heat-mania.
  5. At last, others who are heat averse. Yesterday was challenging but today is manageable at 19°C, 22.7 km/h, 72% humidity, 1014 hPa and 0.0 mm precipitation.
  6. 14°C and drizzling here, humidity is 83% and wind is Northerly.
  7. Fantastic photos of the action this afternoon. This photo was taken at 15:09 today followed by heavy rain but no close c-c or c-g lightning.
