Hope the attic work goes well. As you say, the heat build up even from a few days has some residual effects...

We sound similar ages, and I totally agree with your analysis/ comments. I too recall, 1976, which felt endlessly sunny and hot, I could take it better in those days though. And yes, that 35c then would translate as a good few degrees hotter now, I suspect.

I see/ feel the difference all year round. Much milder winters (fewer frosts, starting later), warm springs, hotter summers, very mild autumns. Disappointing that it isn't as seasonal as it used to be. Four proper seasons was always one of the pleasures of our climate, in my view...feels like a fading memory.

I think I’m a similar age too. I remember the summer of 1976 very well, we holidayed in North Wales and every day seemed hot and sunny. I also remember during my childhood that Septembers were cool and misty and there were far more frosts in winter than we have now. Even in the 90s during winters I remember having to scrape ice off my car before going to work far more frequently than I do now.

Looking like 30 degrees plus moving in by the weekend and with very warm to hot weather in the proceeding days wouldn't be surprised too see 34C to 35C registered in the south east.

Yes, I saw Becky Mantin, ITV News, reporting on it about a quarter of an hour ago.

I'm exactly the same! I do get cross when heat-maniacs try to conflate that with sunshine...one can enjoy sunshine and temperate temperatures too, after all...! And that's what a 'normal' English summer used to be, after all. Anyway, I find it very therapeutic indeed on here, so I hope that you will too ☺️

You’re absolutely right, I remember those moderate summers of my childhood. We could enjoy trips, or go exploring without fear of getting overheated. My favourite weather, though, has to be clear, crisp, frosty and cold.
