Still snowing here.
Update from MetO to the Croydon Borough: Severe snowfall approx 1500hrs across London/SE and will head South. Expect 10cm - 20cm
Doesn't look like that on the radar - are they expecting some convective stuff or are they using their crystal ball? It looks pretty much light but persistent for the rest of the day from where I'm sitting.
Would be nice if it came true though

Its not DS it's coming to MINE!!!!
Surely we can share? Or do you want to toss a coin for it :o

Right under the green on the N-W radar, thick fall of fat flakes now - heading towards 3cm currently.
18z NAE shows snow across the SE ALL DAY tomorrow!
SWEET - the green blob seems to be going straight for MBY!
Deffo a walk with the camers tomorrow....

Bright headtorch coming in very useful now - my own portable lamp post. Heavy steady snow - wind getting up as well.

Proper steady snow now in Bromley....
Hopefully locked in for the next 24 hours

Just put on my LED headtorch and set it to narrow beam.... BINGO.. Small snowflakes floating around in the calm air. Even in this cold weather we have a couple of foxes making babies in our backgarden.... Noisy B*gg*rs <_<

Woaa!
AT this rate ALL of kent will see snow
http://www.meteogroup.co.uk/uk/home/weather/radar/united_kingdom.html
Didn't expect that
That is a very good view.. You get a great idea of the rotation and it looks like the bulk of the heavy stuff may hit considerably further east (Gtr London-wise) than was originally thought...
Here's hoping

I've just run the animation feature on the NW radar. If the ppn continues its current track then it looks like SE London will get the stuff that has come ashore around the Eaastbourne/Beachy Head area. It's moving VVV slowly though so no breath holding here....

Very interesting watching the radar. The front is slowing it's drift east and moving NNE, but it's possible that we will see quite a bit of snow in West Kent.
There is a hell of a tail on the front too, so whoever gets stuck beneath it will have alot of depth, I suspect.
Enjoy!

Loafing around outside Tunbridge Wells...
You're almost due south of me (I'm in Bromley) - IF it reaches this far we should see it at more or less the same time...

Neil I'm 9.45 SSE of London. Nothing here yet
Jan
Bromley
Jan,
the radar suggests that South of London snow is as far south as the coast. It hasn't quite reached us yet - not sure if it is still moving east though...

Tantalisingly close to Bromley now going by the NW radar.... Is it still moving East or has it started to pivot?

London Evening Standard forecasting "extreme weather warning for 18 inches of snow" lol
They win Press ramp of the day award so far....

Still fully expecting quite a big area to average out between 10-20cms...the NAE isn't quite so keen on those huge 40cms totals simply because its a bit better in terms of movement of the front northwards, its actually something of an upgrade for our region...share the wealth so to speak...
I'm still willing to bet quite a few places get big falls...
Hi Kold How is this likely to compare with Feb last year? We got around 4 inches (poss more) out of that one...

Between Bickley and Bromley Common
Jan
Kewl pretty close then  - I plan on taking a stroll in the "Heavy Snow" (assuming we get it tomorrow) with the camera. Hope it's like last Feb...

Whereabouts in Bromley? I'm in Shortlands - 10 mins from the High St....

What does IMBY mean? I've seen it used alot on here in the past few weeks...

This is my take on things guys.
This Area IMO is where the snowfall could be immense.
Comments welcome
Could you use a thinner pen? 'because at the mo Bromley is right under the ink! It would be nice to be inside the "leaf"
-
Will we actually be able to watch it in daylight? I'd hate to miss out 'cause the heavy stuff falls overnight....
DS
Edited - can't spellll.

BBC forecast has just gone for the SW "solution" with nothing worth reporting over London/Kent....
No fingernails left........

The track of ppn has changed constantly and will continue to do so. Personally I'm not particularly worried - my guess is most areas of the country will be hit by the front, and regardless heavy snow showers will pack into the East anyways - so the whole country should do well either way! Its a case of radar-watching at this stage!
I remember my boarding school days in Kesgrave in the 80's. Had some amazing snow days there.... *sigh*

Is it me or is the air really dry at the moment? I'm sitting in front of the computer with the window open (yes it is cold!) and the heating off in my room... and I keep getting static shocks from anything metal... Glad the PC is well earthed.
Hopefully the unstable air from tomorrow will reduce this a tad.

OMG. Has anyone seen the UKMO PPN charts. Run the sequence through!
24 hrs of heavy snow from tomorrow evening for EA & SE. I hope this is the one that comes off. The GFS is totally different, favouring those around C.Mids/Hants as the sweet spot.
*Gulp* If that verifies then SE England are in for 1.5 days of uninterrupted snow. That would be "interesting".....
DS
Editied for bad maths!

Am I the only one who would love (for once) to have the decent snow actually fall during the day so it can be seen? The bit I like about snow is watching it fall - very relaxing and "chilling" (forgive the pun)....

Latest models look "hot" for Central Southern and Midlands for tomorrow - SE seem to be missing the brunt...

Indeed - the NMM seems to think that will be pretty intense around SE London at about lunchtime tomorrow.
DS
Whoops - NMM not NNM... Acronyms, who'd have 'em...
