  1. Nice captures mate, I need to film more but being old fashioned I try take single shots!
  2. Thanks appreciate it. Night time is difficult as you say but far easier than daytime, I have very few good daytime strikes in over 35 years of taking lightning pics.
  3. Daytime lightning is not the easiest to get, especially when you run home in torrential rain after cutting a meeting short, then realise your lightning trigger isn't charged so plan C, just try catch some!! Managed this little mix up. Taken Gravesend, Kent! Still bit of practice before I head to the US in two weeks!
  4. Something to watch on a Monday night, A distant storm in the North sea lighting up, I estimate it to be around 45 miles from me.
  5. Especially in October! This shot is from end of October 2004, not one of my best as it's mostly blown out. 28/10/2004
  6. Ha! They don't call you 'Eagle eye' for nothing! Apologies for the late reply, I must admit I didn't give those a second glance but on further inspection I think you're right. Appreciate the heads up.
  7. Normally I don't get out of bed for less than a Supercell but 2 years of no US chasing leads to desperate times. I watched the earlier storm flash in the near distance and saw some nice CG's but that died out, seeing as the later storm was heading directly towards me I nipped out, caught a couple of strikes before it died on it's ****. Taken Gravesend, Kent around midnight.
  8. Aww thanks, He is literally exactly like that, really nice, funny and chilled, then later he rolled into the same gas station so we had another chat. Met quite a few of the big names, they are pretty much all nice people. Will pass that on
  9. Pecos Hank is a lovely bloke, met him a couple of times and actually stood with him and photographed a storm. I speak to him on FB.
  10. Video of the lightning strikes last week 20/7/21 in Gravesend, Kent UK I've slowed down the first strike that strikes the scaffold (About 50ft away) as otherwise you can't see it, 17 second video for something that took a second. 1007506153_Lightningwatermark.mp4
  11. Caught the lightning striking my next door neighbours scaffolding around 50 feet away from where I was watching the storm, I knew it was close as the flash and crack were instantaneous, my previous close call was a tad further away around half a mile, I think this is as close as I want to get! I was safely *Gulp* indoors! ️️ Closest strike I've had in around 35 years of photographing lightning! Gravesend, Kent.
  12. Around this time of year seems to be a good time for storms, I'm not sure I can post old photos on here? But I will anyway The triple strike was taken 18th July 2014 and the crawler was 19th July 2017 both the same place in Gravesend, Kent. Hopefully add to those soon, maybe 20th July 2021 will come up trumps?
  13. Sorry for the late reply, No it wasn't a supercell, just an Arcus as far as I know. Still waiting for a proper report on the 'tornado'
  14. The storm on Friday night that produced the 'Nado in London, this was taken about an hour later at 9PM looking over Tilbury.
  15. Ha! Thank you, My second decent shelf cloud in a matter of weeks, both in the dark but it's always nice to see them.
  16. Few images from around 1A.M yesterday morning from Minnis bay Kent looking towards Reculver Castle. I decided to stay put and see how things panned out as I've had a shot in mind for years but the storm decided otherwise so around 10:30PM I headed down to the coast in torrential rain and deep puddles, I was a bit restricted as I picked up a couple of friends, they'd never chased before, I rarely chase with others but it was great to get them their first Arcus and a decent lighting show, also managed to keep out of the rain mostly, also nice to give them a heads up on outflow and other things they wouldn't have experienced. It was great to brush the cobwebs off after no chasing for a couple of years apart from a small storm near Hastings last year.
  17. Another day, another shelf cloud at night! Taken just now across the thames from Gravesend. Also had a 'scudnado' a rotating column of scud!! Did a quick time-lapse of some convection earlier as well. Lots of things going on, hardly any action, early days yet and I've seen more than the whole of last year already! IMG_1275.mov IMG_1271.MOV
  18. Aww man! Thanks I hope you get something soon. I guess I'm spoilt by years of chasing in the U.S but nice to get something in my hometown again.
  19. Decent Shelf cloud over Gravesend, Kent Saturday night, no lightning, associated gusts or even rain, just a silent shelf. Still kicking myself for not following my gut feeling and walking to the top of the hill where I live so I would've got some great structure earlier, but took this out my window so easiest chase ever, just had to walk upstairs!
  20. Not a bad bit of Mammatus for December, around 3PM this afternoon going up the Thames, past Gravesend, Kent.
  21. Thought I'd stick these up even though they're from 13th August, if that's ok? Seeing that nothing else is happening and you lot are talking about lightning Actually the first 4 are from off the coast of Hastings, 12th August evening. The last two are from off the coast of Dungeness early morning 13th August, Some nice striations in the cloud structure and the really bright one that's slightly blown out which pee'd me off but it was literally the only really bright strike that night. I started off in Hastings around 9PM and finished up in Dover around 4AM. Nice to actually get out and see something for the first time this year.
