  1. Temperatures pushing anywhere between 23 and 27 in Gloucestershire already; if these keep rising at the same rate surely the CAP must be very strong to stop initiation today?? Or are there other hindering factors?
  2. To my east in the Cotswolds, convection trying to break the Cap but keeps getting flattened!
  3. Comisserations to those who have missed storms in the last few days! We were lucky to chase down and get the timings right to watch yesterdays line of elevated thunderstorms approaching Swansea, with some beautiful strikes underneath undulating cloud bases. I understand elevated storms essentially involve CAPE higher up in the atmospheric profiles, but in terms of triggering mechanisms are they any different to surface based? Such an interesting couple of weeks, meteorologically!
  4. Incredible cloud formations from storms across S Wales and over the Bristol channel on Tuesday/Wednesday! I have compiled the following timelapse footage: I was wondering if anyone could help analyse the storm structures and their causes? I can identify (within the video) various formations like possibly a very low level funnel cloud; which i'm supposing is related to updraft, wind convergence and shear processes? Also a 'Whales Mouth' seems to go over ahead and a clear spot is apparent; maybe caused by a rear flank downdraft?
