  1. Do they have electric baseboards in England? We had a rental in Silverton that had it and it was pretty crappy and very expensive. Before that we lived in Quincy California that also had a baseboard but we didn't use it since it wasn't a rental we added propane heat in.  Does British people ever have propane tanks out in rural areas?

Here's the address of our Quincy California old house.  I'm not sure if the trees are covering it up or they somehow got rid of it but here is the address of the house with propane heat we had and the gate was different it had wheel spokes which I used to climb over. I could never have climbed the new weird gate they have if it was there back then.  Does the street view show up?  I copied the link.  I am not sure why they would remove the propane heat.   Edit: Going down a few houses by the mountain you can see a house with a much older propane heat still there. Ours was much newer as well as our house built in the early 80s.

  2. Because it's a conspiracy by China and if you dare acknowledge climate changes according to those on Breitbart your a 'product of the system' and thus (gasp) A COMMUNIST!!!    You can't question ANYTHING big corporate America does unless it censors conservatives (which it does) while allowing all sorts of hate speech to go unfiltered if comments are still allowed. not that both sides don't have it but one tends to be more 'vocal'.

UK has had the same 'climate shift' we have had to a more warmer regime post 2017.  Our rainfall is like Sacramento's old skool pattern now. The storms and jet stream do unnatural 90 degree movements around us leaving Oregon as an 'anomaly' of drought.  Now climate change can explain some things but it doesn't satisfy my taste for storms literally pulling apart. Even under global warming naturally there'd be pattern breakdowns and changes within the warmth.   The media's 'hockey stick' isn't exactly a linear chart though they like to show it that way and isn't really shaped like a hockey either..................Canadian's out of all should know better then to fall for the fake hockey stick!

  3. Some of your winds during your storms are insane like mini Hanukkah Eve events where here in the PNW winds around 50mph tend to cause power outages.   Anything above 55mph you get outages light up like a christmas tree in the tens of thousands though PGE and especially Pacific Power are very prompt at restoration and we haven't ever under Pacfic had anything more then 3 hours out which was our longest one yet. Most are just an hour or two no biggie like a power nap.

If we had underground lines and a substation flooded or had a major fire I shudder to think the results as it won't be a simple matter of finding the spot and ordering parts where it's needed as this would require a lot of digging.etc even though not as many would lose it those who do would lose it longer then just a 'few hours'.

Slightly annoying day today. About 80% of it was very pleasant: max 22.4 °C, plenty of sunshine, light winds. But in early afternoon there were a couple of fairly ferocious downpours. A good job I didn't trust last night's forecast of it being likely to remain dry all day, and go for a long walk in the country!

Tomorrow looks a bit of a pain (rain), then Thursday OK, then Friday a pain again (winds) then Saturday OK again. At least it won't be the same old same old every day!

    That's what Stockton/Sacramento California is for! .
