Just paused(?) here. Level snow 11 cms in 3 hours ........surely cannot snow all night as predicted. Can it?!! . Qualifies as extreme event if it does. Banstead, North Downs.

Morning all. Looking good on the N Downs-continuous moderate snow as they say in the Met O, code 73 if I recall correctly. Not going out there in my night attire but looks like about 3 cms. Kids have got a conditional day off school today; conditional on if it snows! Wonder if they will choose to go?

Snow since 8 am, eased off at lunchtime and laying snow started to melt. Moderate snow for 2 hours or more this pm, all surfaces covered probably 1/2 cms, guess temp around 0. 500 ft asl, north downs, 3 miles from sutton, showing the effect of altitude locally (see post below)
