Are 850temps at your average cloud height? And how long does it take for 850temps to filter down to have an impact on 2m temps? Sorry for a dumb question(s)

It would be nice to have a model group just for those that know what their talking about, reading through this one is very confusing, shame really as I quite like reading the knowledgeable posts but it's becoming tedious filtering through it all.

Welcome to over analysis time on nw. It’s time to take the best early winter charts in years and start finding faults or breakdowns before the cold is even here. Anyone can play.
Given the constant disappointment over the years, it's understandable doubt creeps in, less heart ache should it happen.

Got the old am radios going
Used to love tuning the old radio in and listening to static build up, then pop.

Seems precip has been dieing off since about 9pm as it gradually moves eastwards, may still get the odd flurry during the night before the milder air arrives but I don't think we'll be getting much higher then 4/5c here tomorrow.

Started with wet snow about midday here, occasionally switching between rain/snow(heavy at times) up until the sun went down, at which point it started snowing properly and has managed to settle a bit on the wet ground since the temp/dew point has dropped just below freezing.

I've not been following the weather recently but a number of weeks ago I heard talk of a potential SSW event, is that still on the cards, have we had it or did nothing materialize? Grats

Had lost interest when I previously saw the forcast had the storms being down the far SE, now my interest has intensified having seen the all new and improved forcast! Storm tracking programs at the ready!

It arrived here, rather high intensity with mainly CC and the odd CG mixed in, 10mins or so and now moved East and is now dieing down. Certainly worth staying up and the forecast was relatively spot on.

It looks as if the line of rain just took a slight turn more northwards.

I think the models are a little tight there I take it the models xant see streamers Nick ?
Streamers are generally only picked up late on and won't be fully factored in, having said that, as it's up until noon Monday, they may not have fully established by then.

Anyone know why there's reports of snow in Kent even though dew points are around 3°C?
I'd presumed it'd be cold air undercutting but not reflected in DP.
Perhaps evaporative cooling?

I'm literally on the boarder of how far this system gets regarding snow, a few more miles East/North please! It may make delivering peoples groceries interesting!

It's happening boys and girls, it's actually happening!!!
I just noticed the weather warnings and I've never seen them that in advance before, especially for snow, which usually only appear 1 day before! Excitings period coming up.

Things are kicking off on the near continent, are we expecting those to move over here or are the storms forcast for today/tomorrow mainly going to be homegrown? Driving to France early tomorrow morning, so might see some action there also. LeeRoyxD LeeRoyxD
