Just now, pinball wizard said:Totally agree, the absence of discussion regarding this weeks storms and subsequent flooding really has made a mockery of this being a 'model discussion thread'. It's been solely focussed on the hunt for snow and more akin to a how and when will it snow thread.
I think we are all fed up with the relentless rain and wind so are all chasing some different winter weather and when such synoptic show up it does become all we fixate on

Off topic, but just to say I bloody love this forum. So many knowledgeable people on here from whom I continue to learn so much from. I did have a list of jobs I was meant to do today...not going too well with that! Anyway back to the models..keep 'em rolling and eyes down looking!,,

With the predicted stormy weather midweek I think the trees need to get a wriggle on and shed some more leaves or there could be a lot of collateral damage.

I get the feeling I'm the only one that still hasn't seen any snow yet (and I'm unlikely to now)
You're not the only one, I've not even seen any sleet!

Rained all day and not even sleet. To think I have spent the best part of a month chasing cold rain!,,,,

I do this to myself every year...but I think I,m going to see nothing but cold rain here in Gosport.

This definitely isn't the snow ramp thread...... they must all be in MAD thread

Just a quick question....... do you generally add 10 degrees to those 850 temps for a temp at ground level?.

Big Ecm coming up(we all get to say at least once?)

We managed a ground frost, car temp gauge said -1 and all we had was cold rain, not even any sleet....I don't bloody believe it!!!

Bit of a shame there's a growing trend to not quite get the low south enough so southern areas are in danger of having some milder air mixed in. 300-500 mile shift south and it would be perfect.
M4 corridor...I know that feeling well.

I've buckled myself in to the Snowchaser roller-coaster and ready when you lot are!

It seems the other threads are abit slow aswell at the moment, there's always a bit of buzz and anticipation around this time of year but this mild dross has really put the dampener on things.. not even had a sniff of a frost yet.

Just given in and put mine on...now I'm too warm, might have cracked open a window to get a breeze in.

I read that report earlier, the worrying part is that not only is the warming happening, but nature is affected too. Polar bears are coming more and more inland to find food. flora, fauna is being affected, all very sad to see and read about.
If you go on to the snow and ice in the northern hemisphere thread you may be abit enlightened to the current situation rather then the bbc biased sensationalism.

Our thermostat is reading 20.5c in our North facing living room at the mo...being on the sunny south coast helps I guess. Although we should fire up the central heating to check it works, I reckon November should bring some chilly nights.

I think everyone's got model fatigue........

Only good thing about this weather is its good for taking photographs, very atmospheric

The atmosphere and weather has so many variations and variables that the knowledge of what we know now has merely scratched the surface of meteorology! Its ludicrous to assume that so called climate change is to blame, a bit like someone putting ten cakes in the oven ,nine cakes rise ,one doesn't and all came from the same mixing bowl....so what do you blame? The oven, the cake tin or the cake mix......?
I'd blame the cake tin
