  1. I probably could drop some rings off if you want some to split yourself!
  2. Pretty windy here too - not as bad as Friday morning but still quite lively by the sound of it. Firewood coming out of my ears here with another half a dozen birches down waiting to be sorted out so hopefully no more!
  3. Still no power here with the lines still lying on the ground under fallen trees in the woods. Beautiful day though, calm, sunny with a dusting of snow.
  4. Quite a few trees down in the surrounding woods with the power lines on the ground in a couple of places. Yet more firewood - the absolute last thing we need!
  5. I haven't been outside yet but it sounds pretty lively and the power is off. Hopefully not too much damage.
  6. Same here - sitting outside with a cup of tea at the moment and it's absolutely flat calm. You'd have absolutely no idea that's it's forecast to be wild in a few hours.
  7. Yeah, was working outside all day and not even a spot of rain from the main band that came across. The burns round here are looking pretty low for the time of year too so fingers crossed for some more rain or snow. Once i have my digging done obviously!
  8. Hopefully it can hold off for another 10 days or so... The ground finally seems dry enough and I have a slew digger and dumper getting dropped off on Thursday. Probably be knee deep in snow by next weekend knowing my luck!
  9. Absolutely glorious here again today - hard frost to start with the pickup reading minus 5 at 7am but soon warming up in the surprisingly strong sun. Not a breath of wind all day.
  10. Absolutely glorious today, spent about an hour sitting outside in the sun at lunchtime. Almost flat calm for most of the day, surprisingly warm sunshine and incredibly mild for the time of year. Facebook reminded me that we built an igloo two years ago to the day. If I remember right it was minus 18 so quite easily 30 degrees colder than today!
  11. Yet another sunny but blowy day with occasional pretty strong gusts coming through. If the dry weather holds, I might even be able to get some long delayed digger work done - for the first time in months the ground feels dry enough.
  12. I used to occasionally pick up a copy offshore, when someone else paid for it, but in recent years it's become almost an urban-centric left wing version of the daily mail. It seems to provide less and less actual news with the "stories" and articles they do print cherry picked to suit an often quite bizarre editorial agenda. Much like Channel 4 news actually! Anyway, probably not the place! Another glorious day, with very little wind, quite a bit of sunshine and surprisingly warm feeling at times. Sat out in the garden at lunchtime in short sleeves!
  13. Half decent day today with a bit of shelter from the cold wind. Stayed dry with plenty of sunshine so not a bad day for working outside. Got lots to do outside and still got a digger on standby to do some work so could really do with a lengthy dry spell to give the ground a chance to dry out a bit. Probably be May!
  14. It looked nice enough earlier on until I went outside - bright but really cold in the wind. Now even windier with the odd flurry of wet snow howling through.
  15. Good luck with the move! Great place to live with easy access to the hill and good walking in almost every direction. We're just up the hill so if you need a hand with anything with anything feel free to give me a shout.
  16. As others have said, a pretty decent day. A few hours spent splitting firewood first thing in calm, frosty conditions then up to the Lecht for a half day. Plenty of snow despite the warm weather last week, bit firm in places but great where the sun had been on it. Very little wind, no queues all afternoon and some lovely sunshine.
  17. Some absolutely glorious skiing yesterday at the Lecht. They had the road from Strathdon cut open with snow blowers by late morning and we arrived to amazing conditions. Perfectly groomed powder, not a breath of wind and wall to wall sunshine. We finished the day with a beer sitting at the top watching the sunset. Today still had great snow but the overhead wasn't as good with a strong wind and occasional mist and drifting snow. Still a good day out though.
  18. Hmm, the main road through the village from the A96 is fine but everywhere else is still covered in thick lethal ice. Should be fine just be really careful when you get out of the car.
  19. It is indeed ridiculously icy - I tried to break up some of it earlier after laughing at my girlfriend trying to walk from the car and its like incredibly slippy concrete. I resorted to a pick axe and managed to eventually clear a small path. A car load of media students who were out filming crashed off the little single track road which is also like a bottle. They were lucky to come to a halt against a tree, another foot and they'd have went over the edge amd down into the burn. Tomorrow is looking like a cracking day so hoping to head to the Lecht if they can open the road.
  20. If you're moving where I think you might be, your neighbours have a couple of very friendly little pet pigs! Just had 3 flashes of lightning and now heavy blowing snow.
  21. Haha, am I getting a new neighbour? No mention of any second Polar Low related weather on the forecasts, so will be interesting to see what happens. The lying snow is now like concrete - walking about doesn't even leave footprints. After a nice sunrise, it's now clouded over and snowing very lightly in quite a gusty wind.
  22. Bit an anticlimax last night, no where near the amount of snow that was forecast. Did get some pretty strong winds for a while along with some thundersnow. Up at Glenshee today, snow is decent but pretty windy with lots of blowing snow once you get up any height.
  23. Snow just started here, the wind was already blowing the snow around so things could get a bit messy later on.
  24. Cold, crisp with a dusting of powdery snow today. No evidence of dripping even from the house roof in full sun so must have stayed well below zero throughout. Great day to demolish an old shed and burn the remains! Got bored trying to dismantle it properly and towed it down with the pickup. Warning sounds promising for a decent fall of snow at some point but the forecast doesn't seem to back it up so who knows.
  25. Assuming you mean 1ft+ lying at a time in one snowy spell rather than 1ft building up without it stopping snowing in between then just before Christmas is the most recent. Most of our snow falls in showers rather than frontal events, so it's rare that you get more tham 3 or 4 inchrs in a si gle fall unless the showers run together.
