Absolutely glorious today, spent about an hour sitting outside in the sun at lunchtime. Almost flat calm for most of the day, surprisingly warm sunshine and incredibly mild for the time of year. Facebook reminded me that we built an igloo two years ago to the day. If I remember right it was minus 18 so quite easily 30 degrees colder than today!

I used to occasionally pick up a copy offshore, when someone else paid for it, but in recent years it's become almost an urban-centric left wing version of the daily mail. It seems to provide less and less actual news with the "stories" and articles they do print cherry picked to suit an often quite bizarre editorial agenda. Much like Channel 4 news actually! Anyway, probably not the place! Another glorious day, with very little wind, quite a bit of sunshine and surprisingly warm feeling at times. Sat out in the garden at lunchtime in short sleeves!

Half decent day today with a bit of shelter from the cold wind. Stayed dry with plenty of sunshine so not a bad day for working outside. Got lots to do outside and still got a digger on standby to do some work so could really do with a lengthy dry spell to give the ground a chance to dry out a bit. Probably be May!

As others have said, a pretty decent day. A few hours spent splitting firewood first thing in calm, frosty conditions then up to the Lecht for a half day. Plenty of snow despite the warm weather last week, bit firm in places but great where the sun had been on it. Very little wind, no queues all afternoon and some lovely sunshine.

Some absolutely glorious skiing yesterday at the Lecht. They had the road from Strathdon cut open with snow blowers by late morning and we arrived to amazing conditions. Perfectly groomed powder, not a breath of wind and wall to wall sunshine. We finished the day with a beer sitting at the top watching the sunset. Today still had great snow but the overhead wasn't as good with a strong wind and occasional mist and drifting snow. Still a good day out though.

It is indeed ridiculously icy - I tried to break up some of it earlier after laughing at my girlfriend trying to walk from the car and its like incredibly slippy concrete. I resorted to a pick axe and managed to eventually clear a small path. A car load of media students who were out filming crashed off the little single track road which is also like a bottle. They were lucky to come to a halt against a tree, another foot and they'd have went over the edge amd down into the burn. Tomorrow is looking like a cracking day so hoping to head to the Lecht if they can open the road.

Haha, am I getting a new neighbour? No mention of any second Polar Low related weather on the forecasts, so will be interesting to see what happens. The lying snow is now like concrete - walking about doesn't even leave footprints. After a nice sunrise, it's now clouded over and snowing very lightly in quite a gusty wind.

Cold, crisp with a dusting of powdery snow today. No evidence of dripping even from the house roof in full sun so must have stayed well below zero throughout. Great day to demolish an old shed and burn the remains! Got bored trying to dismantle it properly and towed it down with the pickup. Warning sounds promising for a decent fall of snow at some point but the forecast doesn't seem to back it up so who knows.

Last time had a foot or more of snow from a single fall?

Assuming you mean 1ft+ lying at a time in one snowy spell rather than 1ft building up without it stopping snowing in between then just before Christmas is the most recent. Most of our snow falls in showers rather than frontal events, so it's rare that you get more tham 3 or 4 inchrs in a si gle fall unless the showers run together.
