So my family have decided to choose Monday to put up a gazebo and have an outdoor lunch. First time in a year. Apparently my bro picked the day that looked like the best weather.
anyone want to break it to him....

Chucking it down here. Heading to the woods in half an hour or so. Pics later!

Coming down here now - Carrickfergus - Radar showing lots more coming in. Just starting to lie. Threw some bread out for the blackbirds - the resident spaniel is disgusted

Looking at the radar I will be literally the last person in Ireland to see flakes

Definitely a lot further up than forecast at this stage.

Drop me a pm. I'll give you my postcode and number for a socially distanced coffee. Taking lockdown regulations into account of course.
Will do if we make it over!

The only issue for me is being right on the East coast. Worried it'll just be the sleet/freezing rain option here. Can always jump in the car and drive inland a little though.
Yes I’m eyeing up Ballyclare if things are sleety

Thanks for the info.
It sounds really positive and a near time upgrade rather than the usual downgrade of forecast.
Just hope the "wintry mix" rather than snow for coastal areas doesn't come into play.
Living about 5 mins walk from the beach so I am!

Wow. Metoffice has gone from a bit of sleet on the East Antrim coast on Sat to Snowmageddon. Hope it’s right!

That is at complete odds with their forecast text for NI for the weekend! It doesn't even mention hill snow :
It is really frustrating. They have been outliers all week in terms of forecasting nothing and then a sudden change

Just about to drive cross country for an appointment and am glad it’s clear!

Which model is usually most reliable? Every weather app seems to be showing different things - but most still seem to be forecasting snow for the weekend in Ulster?
-
We’ve been upgraded from sleet to snow on Friday - East Antrim - by Met office, everywhere else showing snow-snow-snow. Fingers firmly crossed.

That last chart looks perfect for a trek up the Glenshane. I wouod say it will be a Monday or Tuesday before we know how it will pan out.
Getting back off the Glenshane might be the trouble!

Snow here - a good covering. Will turn to rain but lovely to wake up to

Definitely an upgrade to all forecasts here (East Antrim). With us being by the sea and this coming up from inland I’m crossing everything but we’ll be at the very upper end of things.
-
Normally a lurker here. Very close to the sea so snow is a rare occurrence. None overnight but the radars said it was due so went to the living room and it’s snowing lightly onto a hard frost with it due to keep up for a while. Cross fingers!
enjoy the snow day

Don't give up. We got a decent dunking this morning in Carrickfergus so it might get a little further
