Now in Wem. Some strong echoes moving out of Telford but without lightning and lots of activity over the West Midlands.
I may have to return a tad east.
Then again. Maybe not
I'm just heading down to brum now.
Think it's going to kick off big time down there this evening.

Well it's safe to say we have finally punched through the cap.
Towers going up left right and centre here in Staffordshire.
The fun starts now.

Looks like the cap is stronger than expected. Temperatures looking higher than forecast as well. All very interesting.
The cap is very stubborn today but I'm just seeing signs here in the Midlands that we are punching through it.
The remainder of the day could be very interesting.

Sat in the car overlooking Cheshire, Shropshire, and Wales but nothing significant seen (yet) other than a few pockets of ACCas rising and then hitting the cap. Hopefully it's not too long to wait now.
That cap should be broken within the next hour.
The radar will be looking very different by about 4pm.

Dunno whether to stay put or to head a little to the NW later. Might see how things develop and decide later, but i have a feeling things are gonna explode this afternoon in some parts of the Midlands, Wales and NW England.
Stay put sparkiee. I'm just down the road in cannock. Trust me we are in the hot spot area

According to those graphs i just miss out today but im on the edge so i could still see some distant lightning which can be just as dramatic!!
You need to do what me and Supacell do and jump in the car and chase those storms. Trust me there's nothing like it.

Starting to look very interesting from Saturday afternoon into late on Sunday for anyone fortunate enough to be living in the west Midlands and Shropshire and into the Welsh marshes.

lightning maps currently lit up, again looking like last night a right cluster going up the country, fingers crossed things are looking good
Unfortunately it looks like it's going to miss Telford but should hit Shrewsbury head on within the hour.

Any luck @Supacell?
I'm in the centre of Hereford and it's gone nuts here.

Currently just northwest of Worcester. Wondering whether I should just stay put. I'm nicely in the risk zone now. Just need to keep track of the radar and find a good viewpoint
@Supacell I would head further south west towards Hereford. That's where I'm heading now.

Definitely. Although to be fair it was raining at home.
Currently at Bishops Stortford trying to decide my next move. M11 is also shut (as is the M1) but can still get to the M25 and on to Kent by going round the closure.
Alternatively I could stick with the Essex coast, which is closer.
@Peachy good luck tonight, nice to see I'm not the only one willing to drive a long distance to see a storm
Thanks @Supacell and good luck to you too.
Chasing storms is a huge passion for me and I wouldn't swap it for anything.

Just about to set off from the Midlands down to Southend on Sea as I feel this could be a hot spot for the early hours.
Hoping to arrange shortly after midnight.
Will post some pics and videos of any action.

Another hot spell forecast for the end of next week that could be productive. Also first half of September can also knock out a storm or two so all is not lost yet .

I’m at my in-laws in Telford atm waiting to see if the storms on the Welsh border/Hereford move anywhere towards here, before going back home to Wrexham. My hubby is moaning at me because he wants to go home. Is it worth me hanging on or will those storms not make it here?
I'm currently peed off as earlier today I was down Somerset way and missed those storms around Warminster by a couple of hours lol
Unfortunately it looks to be heading in the direction of Kidderminster. Wolverhampton and on to cannock.

Think we could see storms popping up all over the shop this afternoon.
Unlike the heatwave 2 weeks ago, we now have the missing ingredient. humidity.

Fingers crossed the Irish storms make a successful crossing across the Irish Sea tonight without being burned out.
If they make the mainland they should develop enough energy to make some storms that won't be forgotten for a long time.

What hill were you on?
I was up on Barr beacon and it was amazing to see it incoming from the east.
