  1. A little visible on Queensberry from M74 and also on Moffat Hills, but visibility is immaculate on one of the nicest days for a while. Dundee is the South? Bit like the Uni Challenge lad who kept announcing himself as from Montrose in NE Scotland!
  2. Ignore that. The temperature reading seems to be 'frozen' on zero degrees as shown on Netweather list Ogimet says nil report.
  3. I'm surprised how often Tain Range appears at the lower reaches of overnight minimum temperature, as last night. Would have thought this unlikely given the coastal location, unless it's all down to the sandy soil?
  4. Given the title of this Forum, please could it be possible to restrict postings of maps and charts to those which include the area of he entire nation, not just the middle bit? You know how annoyed we get when the English do it to us|
  5. When the BBC starts showing the stock photos of the Saltcoats/Ardrossan seafront line with the spray crashing over the wires you know it's for real! Current Borders TV favourite drone footage is a road near Lockerbie with a long straight line of fallen trees at right angles completely blocking it. Any other regular favourites? Monthly appointment at Edin Royal looking increasingly unlikely tomorrow with cancelled trains.
  6. Here we go again with the '87 piffle! Noteworthy yes, but would not even have got on the news if it hadn't occurred in the blessed south. Compare to events like the Burns Day Storm (1990, 47 deaths), the Glasgow Storm of 1968 (28 deaths) or more recently Storm Alwyn. Incidentally, credit due to Fish for prducing a precise and 100% accurate forecast; no hurricane forecast and none occurred. Only my opinion and a little research suggests that 1987 would not even be included in the top 20 storms of our lifetimes.
  7. Generally good consistency between reported snow depths: East Kilbride 12cm, Lanark 12cm, Dunlop 11cm, Loch Glasgarnoch 9cm, Drumalbin 9cm, Caldercruix 9cm, East Ayrshire 7cm, Tulloch Bridge 6cm,
  8. No messing about here in Lockerbie - straight in with heavy snow 1030. Settling from the start. M74? Can't imagine!
  9. Totally off topic advice, to save you being stung like I was: The steroids may well lead to eyesight changes, and perhaps a new description. Insist on their returning the old lenses to you for possible future use. Once the steroids are discontinued you may well find that your sight returns to your previous standard, meaning you can use the old lenses again.
  10. Looking possible, but unlikely, that the two year old UK December maximum temperature may be exceeded in the next few days 18.7 deg recorded at Achfary in Sutherland would take some beating, and the conditions which led to it are rarely replicated.
  11. Catch up: Watch the ITV News Border evening programme | ITV News Border WWW.ITV.COM You can catch-up with the ITV News Border programme on weekdays for 24-hours after it is broadcast on ITV. | ITV News Border Well said. Take a look at 10.30 into this.
  12. I remember that, before the lighthouse was automated, the keepers at St.Abbs Head produced weather observations. Would be interested to know what it's like there now. Perhaps the lighthouse board have their own wind equipment there now?
