Great to see these forecasts from Michael, but his volume is way too low. My set-up is fine for all other audio, so I can only guess that he has his mic level set too low when recording the forecasts. Any chance of sorting this, please?! :o

Moderate snow after sleet here in Chilwell - JUST starting to stick on damp drive...

That was weird! At 1pm we had a substantial mass of snow cloud approaching NG9 from almost due South. At 1.20pm I noticed a few flakes. Having seen no more snow I just checked the radar again, and it's like the parting of the Red Sea! The cloud mass split into two exactly where I am and skirted to both E and W. Disappointing, to say the least!

Real Hollywood snow in Chilwell now - re-settling readily on roads. Down to 0.4C...

As always, the biggies are just skirting us in NG9. Hope for better later!

Heavy snow shower. 4 cm level snow depth on grass, 1.5 on concrete drive. Temp now -1.5C. When's the big stuff expected in Nottingham??

Stop me if I'm just being a grumpy OM... but 'heavy snow' seems to be cropping up a lot - even on BBC - and then they say 'up to 5 cm'!! Get real - heavy snow's got to be minimum 4 or 5 INCHES lying. Anything less is little more than a dusting. The last 'heavy snow' we had was 1989, when power lines came down. Maybe everyone's got so used to almost zero snow that they don't know the difference! Same problem with TV forecasters talking about temps 'plummeting' to -2C. A plummet has got to be at least to -6!!! OK... back to the fun: we've had about 3000 flakes so far, but I'm praying for something heavier! And it's just 'plummeted' to -0.1C in Chilwell... better get the coal in.

Great - what are your initial impressions of the oregon? It looked quite interesting to me....

I've been fascinated by weather for many years, and am now seriously considering buying some better equipment. I currently have a simple indoor display, fed by a sensor outside, for max/min. However I want MORE!! I want to record pressure, wind, rainfall & humidity too - maybe even sunshine. I love gadgets (sadly!) and really like the look of some of the more serious wireless home stations I've seen on the net. I could have a budget of around £300 for the right stuff, but urgently need advice / recommendations before going further... Any help will be much appreciated!

Temperature has just dropped 5 degrees C in around 7 minutes here in Chilwell. I heard hail on the windows and now it is a mix of hail/sleet, and extremely gusty! Great weather (unless you're my wife)... Update - it has now dropped to 2.8C from 9.3 less than 20 mins ago and is snowing. Now 2.4C - wet snow. Thank God for a bit of proper weather!!

Also just woken by a violent squall: one huge gust and lashing rain at approx. 6.35am. Golf tent separated from securing pegs and deposited in rear hedge! Also some 18" of mortar ripped out of house wall. Now 'all quiet on the Western front' after another hour or so of intermittently heavy rain. The line squall shows vividly on NW Radar postcode zoom - great work!

Disgusted to hear a BBC Radio reporter from Worcestershire (I think) banging on about snow starting at 3am and "snowing very heavily for 3 hours", leaving AT LEAST 2.5" cover!!! If that's heavy snow, I'm the Prime Minister.... Why do they 'hyperbolise' about weather all the time? Can't they see that they're talking nonsense?!
