  1. having looked at MetO, Beeb and other (less relaible !!) weather sites..... no one seems to forecasting the snow event that NW is ? any thoughts anyone?

Met o seems to have issued it's latest long term update for the next 6 to 10 days which talks about rain and less cold conditions for the weekend into next week.

  2. Could you give me a link to these charts you have access to that the rest of us don't please. :D

I am intrigued by the temperatures today in fact and the upcoming model predictions for temperatures next week.

Presently it's 8 degrees here with a lovely sunny spring like day. As far as I can see the predicted high for today was 6 degrees. Anyone any thoughts on these temperatures and those of the model predictions for this week?

  3. All youhave to do to check whether you have + dewpoints & the temp is above freezing is go to a concrete section of the garden- Patio or a bench something like that-

Clear all the snow away- make it totally clear- no more snow will accumulate on this if its sleet-

    S

Positive dew point and air temperature now in Ipswich +1, 0.5 c

So sleet here not any new settling

  4. I received my Davis VP2 wireless USB (datalogger and weatherlink) 5 days ago.

The unit worked perfectly for 2 days then suddenly I got a "Low Console Batteries" message with "R" on the right-hand side of the console (ticket slot) which eventually turned to "L" with all external data dashed out, the inside monitoring is still working so I don't think it's the console.

Today I bought new batteries for the ISS and console powered also by AC Adaptor, the unit worked perfectly again but after about 2 hours went into "R" then the "L" sequence with all monitoring data dashed as before.

It's now receiving data once again, what's causing this erratic behaviour, any ideas?

I did a ISS reception test via DIP #4 test mode and thats ok.

The sensor is about 30 yards from the console so fairly close.

Hi I had the same problems and I had to change the ISS batteries again ....this time making sure they were charged for at least 12 hours...all seemed ok after that. I guess you are using the same batteries in the ISS as were removed?

  5. Personally I have never understood the excitement of a few hrs of snow followed by a thaw and then rain. Seems like a waste of time IMO.

If we could see a true E,ly bringing that mass of cold air over the continent this could bring joy to us all. Some people think all E,lys bring is snow showers on E coasts. . All the classic cold spells of the past bought snowfall for the whole country except Cork!.

Im getting a bit ahead of myself but what im trying to say is the 18Z maybe a downgrade for snowfall in the shortterm but in the longer term the 18Z has produced a fasinating scenario thats going to be alot of fun following over these next few days, I can't wait to view the ensembles.

Yep, always was a real disappointment in the old days, and we always thought that this time would be the one where the snow didn't turn to rain.......but it mostly did, one or two times the Easterly hung on, let me tell you they were great times!
