Snowing nicely here

Sleety mix here now

I also remember that awful January sat in 2004! Took me 4 hours to travel from merry hill to Stourbridge, around 4 miles. Absolute mayhem! Rain here in Halesowen currently

I remember this, my Dad lives in Leicester, and I live near Birmingham, I had gone over there for the weekend, never saw it coming! Got up on the Saturday morning and couldn't believe my eyes! We had no shopping in, or toilet roll!! I walked to the nearest co-op in Leicester forest East, having to lift my legs out and over the snow for each step as someone else mentioned. Ended up stuck in Leicester until the Tuesday as it was so bad couldn't get the car off the estate!

Sadly this winter is turning more into a John Hurt...shoe-horned in at the last minute to make the other winters around it make sense.
This is my second winter since I moved to Halesowen, and frankly, as I don't have a drive and my car is parked on a narrow street used as a rat run, I'm actually pretty scared what will happen to my poor car if we have any real snow! But you and I have been on the midlands snow thread for a number of years now so you'll know, despite the car, that I really, really wanna see some proper snow! Not holding my breath

Thursday night was nice but quick coverings that are gone by lunchtime are so 2015.
It's a new year...time for winter to regenerate into it's next guise!
Dr Who? I wish it would regenerate into the equivalent of David Tennant then!

Surely it's the uppers we need to be interested in for snow guys? I'll be happy enough if I see a repeat of Thursday night to be honest, nothing like a spot of lamp post watching

Snowing in Halesowen

Birmingham city centre, cars covered and roads slushy but covering, can clearly see tyre tracks, and still coming down heavily
-
However, looking down my drive onto the main road I can clearly see where cars have driven so also settling on roads too, I just really want enough for my 2 year old to have a play in the garden in tomorrow!
-
Slight covering on the drive, but I can still hear dripping :-/ and right now it's tiny tiny flakes, here's hoping that's because of the temp dropping!
-
OK, here comes a positive post.
People west of Wolverhampton, the heavy stuff over Wales is heading your way.
People in Birmingham and the Black Country, we have a long fetch all the way down to the south coast with some heavier stuff in it.
People in the East Midlands, look towards London and Kent and the heavier stuff developing there, could be heading your way.
People in the Peak District...well you're just lucky sods.
There...everyone is happy!
What's it like up in Gornal Gord? Snowing in Halesowen, but small flakes and very light, blowing around very much in the wind, settling on cars but not much else, I'd really like at least a covering for the little one to play in tomorrow!
-
Heavy it's sticking to wet pavements now
-
It's so hea

Sleet has turned into moderate snow here now, just off to buy wellies for the little one as he put his in the bin and I only fished one out! Didn't think it would mater too much as was not expecting this! :-)

Sleet/snow here
-
Radar looks awesome, lets hope the uppers are low enough for it to be snow when it gets here
-
It's the calm before the event, no point in looking at any more models. The campaign is over and we await the decision of the weather Gods. I'm hoping for a landslide
Any ideas on timings Ian? Are we likely to get up to much in the morning do you think?
-
It's certainly very windy here, if this sticks around and we also get the snow it could be an interesting couple of days
-
Probably the latter !
Doesn't help that it's not really in the media. If you havn't watched the forecast you'd have no idea.
Here's hoping that we get a proper pasting, it seems to me that when the news are not making too much of the forecasts then we seem to do better snow wise, fingers crossed anyway!

I thought it would be busy here, or at least busier than it is. Too marginal? Or everyone just fed up of having their hopes dashed? :-)

I know it's a little soon, but any takers for the easterly next week?
