  1. Robert1981 it was wasn’t it I know where you were from those pics mate lol at least I avoided the hail there was none between us and Bromham where I live but some serious rain, wind and lightning.
  2. matty40s thanks it was pretty intense at one point I wasn’t even ready for that either tbh it’s very early in the year and when I started work in Sharnbrook today 7am it was another late winter early spring day.
  3. Andy Bown I think they thought it was just going to be another wet nights training. I was worried about the other groups when ours were off I actually shouted at them to get off but nobody seemed very worried. they did move when it struck the ground from blizortung I reckon one cg was only a mile and half away it did come quick. Our coach was only responsible for our group I’d add at that point I’d not warned the others because they were on other pitches and there wasn’t time our coach moved fast when it came.
  4. 9 year olds Football training outside at Biddenham near Bedford. Id already warned the coach at 6pm and I was getting a bit jittery by 6.20 so I ran over and said it’s getting close you need to bring them off then first big flash. He brought them off but other groups were still out then two close CGs but still plenty of people in the open. scary start to the season for us lightning had a violet tinge too.
  5. Biggest crack of thunder since June here and a huge flash didn’t see it as thought it was over, again lol. Been on and off now for a good few hours few strikes, so close 30 seconds of rain now still again. I don’t know much about the weather but it seems it’s a playground above us
  6. Seems to be settling down here heavy short bursts of rain for 20 seconds or so then nothing been some good lightning very bright and loud thunder.
  7. Good deluge in Bromham and good cloud structures too impressive !. One rumble of thunder
  8. Yep it was the 11th I just checked my photo but those storms were down south and in 2003 they were behind me I wish got photos of both and a reference point of the track corner never mind maybe in 2043 lol August 11th or June 11th hot spell ????
  9. I travelled from Bromham to Mallory park that day August 10th to watch motoracing when I was 24 years old. I was already interested in the weather and can remember clearly big growing clouds by mid morning. By mid afternoon the sky's North from Mallory park looking were proper evil with lots of lightning but at Mallory we stayed dry well I left a 4 ish and it was then. I drove back down M1 home brief torrential storms broke out and I watched them into the night at home out mum and dad bedroom window lol while my wife to be moaned at me for being boring. Lol my late Mum when i got back asked me why I'd put a jumper on but I never remember it being very hot at Mallory it was warm yes very warm maybe hot but shows how local the record breaking heat was. 20 years later (nearly) June the 11th 2023 I did the same thing but this time I pictured the storms bubbling up during our hot spell and then I drove home through them to tell my kids one of whom is now 18!!!.
  10. Correct your right you struggled last year and that's fair dues and were struggling with it this year enjoy the weather you enjoy. Regardless of the conditions we all able to make am effort to suit when we don't like it the way we do
  11. Been quite a lot of effort shutting all the windows and doors tonight getting the body warmers out earlier to go out and the bigger quilt on daughters bed for tonight as she was outside lifeguards all day Simple wish would be for the weather not to be excessively wet and cold in the first place. Sorry forgot the imogie
  12. Well I can't afford the alternative it's simple as that. I can't afford an electric van and I cant afford a electric car. I can't afford a heat pump, I just invested in the best boiler I could for my modest house. I have looked at solar panels which I could afford but I can't cos I need a new van soon. Personally I also haven't been on a plane for 10 years, I haven't been away in the UK for 4 years, I don't eat meat, i grow my own vegetables and I recycle all my bottles and cardboard. I bike to town whenever I can out of work so I can't really do anything else to help. I cannot earn anymore than I do now to pay for it I already work 5-6 days a week. I'm also a firm believer recently that possibly paying councils , governments and mayor's a load of extra tax in the future won't help except make their pockets much fatter.
  13. Actually for Bromham I don't think a direct hit was the right term!. We seemed to be right under the point of building. Customers of mine saying barely no rain in Olney which is about 5 or 6 miles away and from checking the radar I can't believe we were in like the ignition point. I like to have a storm where it builds on you and also when you can see it come in from elsewhere. However also hopeful any surface water flooding isn't doing to much damage round here and in Kempston been out in Bromham and seems OK but quite hilly here.
  14. Yep in Bromham here that's the best for a while I watched it build then kind of form another storm on my side which was sort of right over us then it all moved over it looked very different to your view I think shame I cracked my phone screen with my son filming it it's always been either side this year but that was direct. Daughter reporting flooded roads in Kempston
  15. Best storm of the year in Bromham Mk43 easing now cloud to grounds constant rumbling in cloud thunder and I'd estimate 25mm rain but haven't checked yet easing now moving away main cloud lightning now. Watched it form alongside a storm over Rushden way on way home.
