  1. Only other time on record the September mean CET had the highest value of any month of the year was in 1890, and that was by just 0.1C difference from the second highest month of that particular year. A September mean CET of 17.2C this year would put it 0.2C ahead of the second highest month (June 17.0C) and break that difference record from 1890.
  2. According to this, Poland's previous record was 18.6c set in 1999. Poland sees record high January temperatures of almost 19°C on first day of year NOTESFROMPOLAND.COM In some parts of Poland, the average temperature reached the level set by the state meteorological agency to qualify as summer temperatures.
  3. Wow-ee the difference in how mild it feels to me outside this morning compared to only yesterday is just incredible. Despite the mild temp there's still some clumps of melting snowy ice visible on areas of the lawn which I suppose just goes to highlight how much snow fell last week in North London.
  4. Another night of deep freeze. Plenty of snow still about. Roofs of houses covered with snow all over. A decent covering remains on trees. Icy roads at most dangerous in many a year. Will not forget this week for a very long time.
  5. Snowcover down to 8cm here, which is only 2cm less than what I measured in the same spot on Sunday evening. Apart from a thin icy layer on top, the snow below that layer is still very well preserved. Side roads and pavements like bloomin ice rinks, very treacherous with thick ice.
  6. One last photo from me. This was posted by someone in the local FB group. Level crossing at Chingford/ Highams Park.
  7. Some foxes enjoying the snow in the back garden earlier. Probably the first time they've ever seen snow so are probably thinking 'what the heck is this stuff!' video_foxes.mp4
  8. Snowfall is petering out here now. Amazed and delighted with the 10cm /4 inch accumulation however.
  9. Really large flakes falling now in Chingford. I think this must be the most intense snowfall of the evening so far.
