I know 18-21c may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I love it. Really pleasant and comfortable for sleeping when out and about. Glad we’re getting a bit of respite on the rain now and the temperatures are remaining pleasant for the foreseeable! I’m sure we’ll get that hot spell yet in august

Sharp flooding in south Bham last night. Couldn’t quite believe it but I’d been in kent all day and returned around 8. Seems much of it came in an hour or two as I was just arriving back and much of the area must’ve got an inch or so within an hour.

Another few mm in the shower last night. 30 mins or so of quite intense precip. Was back in Stourbridge and certainly seemed quite intense for a time there

I've been living here since 2017 (though it doesn't feel that long!). Summer's not usually that uncomfortable when you're outside sitting in the shade but indoors can be pretty torrid without a/c. The buildings here are largely designed to keep out the winter cold - I actually managed to get through the whole of last winter without using any heating at all - so you can imagine what 30+C days and 20+C nights feel like. Some nights it's impossible to sleep without a fan next to your bed. That said, a/c is now common in public buildings and on public transport.
Bratislava is a decent place to visit but it's a lot smaller than Prague, Vienna and Budapest so one shouldn't use those cities as a yardstick. Conversely, I first visited Bratislava when I was living in a small city called Žilina in the north of Slovakia and it felt like Tokyo in comparison!
Haha that’s the city my girlfriend is from! Funny how many people I hear that reference it when they mention Slovakia. A gateway to the mountains but I’ve been once in December and there was a nice amount of snow in the north. Far more than Bratislava got at the same time. I always expect the summer temperatures to be a few degrees higher than the midlands on average but it can really vary depending on the synoptic setup. A euro high and everything heats up widely above 30c fairly readily.
How long did it take you to learn slovak as I find it tough! We’ve been together over two years but I still find it pretty difficult -

I've not been to Bratislava but have been to nearby Vienna, though admittedly only for a few days, in summer 2011.
It wasn't oppressive (apart from the first night which was seriously warm), and actually rather cool on the final day but I think summer 2011 was known to be an unusually cool one in western central Europe.
True, and the Danube has a certainly cooling effect in both cities. They both regularly exceed 30c though, far more than here. I’ve applied to a met job in Vienna though as I’m keen for a change! Have to say I think more of Vienna than I do Bratislava

After being stuck on the wrong side of that bloody high for the first half of June, summer has finally arrived in this part of Europe. Touching 30C today and up to 34C on Thursday.
It probably won't happen but the ECM has me down for a ridiculous minimum of 26C on Friday!
Have you been over in Bratislava for long? My girlfriends home city but it’s pretty oppressive in the summer from experience

A nice 20mms of rain from todays storms and thundery showers.
Beautiful for the garden, but the road outside flooded and the England team lost 2 wickets just 5 miles away.
MIA
I’d say there was a bit more than that here still! Need a weather station to keep tabs on it all but certainly seemed to be quite a lot here! Would be interesting to see what Arnie Pie recorded and those in south Bham

A fun day once again of weather and amazing cloudscapes. A few rumbles but didn’t see any fork lightning here just a few miles from the cricket. Heavy rain here once more!

Is that it for today at edgbaston then?

Looks to be heading north east though? The western flank looks to be much lighter unless its due to beef up.
Yeah, I think the stuff currently on the south coast will fragment as it moves northwards and become more showery in nature, but it’ll bring more organised rain to parts of east anglia and the wash

Had an intense shower here but no sferics. Looks like it’s all moving away to the north now

A moderate shower fizzling out here with a few glimpses of brightness

Well so it proved for birmingham at least, a far less active evening than yesterday. Still some nice interest for other areas though including that amazing cell that developed through Sandwell in towards Wolverhampton. A few flashes here but very little precip today; but glad others got a nice event

The timing looks identical to yesterdays fun, but I disagree regarding Brum not getting involved, all on the radar is slowly drifting Northwesterly
Weather Radar - Live UK Rainfall Radar | Netweather
WWW.NETWEATHER.TVLive weather radar for the UK including weather type to track whether rain, sleet or snow is falling. Updated every 5 minutes.I think more NNW-ly myself than NW-ly, and still think Cov to Leicester has the best chance. I think we could see some activity here, but the core energy seems further east to me.

Think Coventry up to Leicester may be the sweet spots this afternoon, unless some backbuilding takes place on the western edge of this cluster im not sure Bham will see much of the fun

Anyone in birmingham record the rainfall totals from yday? certainly looked like north warks was the sweet spot for flashes from what ive seen. Ourselves north through much of Staffs saw some fun too. But id assume there was well over an inch here? Fingers xd for more fun today although its so random with convection anywhere in central/southern england could see the fun!

Not convinced about dry tomorrow? looked wet for a few days now
and it was dry in the end!

Some pretty hefty rainfall totals in south bham of late i suspect. Had an hour or so or rain this morning and another organised pulse heading in across the marches i should think for this afternoon. Actually relishing some dry weather now from tomorrow! Hardly boiling i suspect but at least pleasant

Bleurgh! Im done with Winter now! Lets hope the next one delivers as always. The tease we had a couple of weeks back has been succeeded by plenty of rain (but still not enough in the grand scheme to replenish river levels) and glimpses of mid teens when the sun has been out this week, but the thought of single figures again this March, personally i think im done now. Just my opinion of course!

I don’t mind the odd washout day, quite nice for sticking on a film and pigging out but tomorrow should be far less rainy; with a few brighter spells thrown in no sign of oppressive heat too which I’m happy about, anything below 25c suits me nicely
any ideas on rainfall amounts in the area today? Must be 25-30mm. Not flooding levels by any means but plenty of heavier bursts.
also, went to see Oppenheimer this eve. Well worth a watch; brilliant film
