  1. Even though being only 30m asl, Dishforth has some snow too! I guess being a frost hollow area helps a lot.
  2. Maybe I’m interpreting the radar wrong, but it seems like the front is moving further north faster than the models were predicting.
  3. Sleety mess in Leeds city centre today but I can see heavy snow starting to settle in Middleton on my cctv, so I guess the snow line is now below the 150m mark.
  4. I think the way people overhyped the cold spell in January has led to some fatigue across the entire forum, myself included. I don’t expect a decent snowfall here even if I am positioned in a slightly better position and at better elevation than some others. A hot summer couldn’t come soon enough for me!
  5. Some very powerful gusts in Dishforth since around 10pm. A couple of car alarms have gone off throughout the night but it’ll take until daylight to see any real damage.
  6. I saw that area of cloud suddenly turn very dark grey over Dishforth and move eastwards. It looked very potent!
  7. Rain has become more of an issue around ripon and surrounding areas. The rivers have burst their banks and many roads have closed due to flooding.
  8. The roads around Ripon have started to flood but luckily the rain has cleared.
  9. It may be a very windy day out but the rain has already caused some localised flooding on the roads around Ripon and Dishforth.
  10. I got banned by him for saying you should listen to the met office and not him
  11. It had been sleeting with the occasional snow flake in Ripon from 12 until 4pm which has led to some really wet surfaces. Tomorrow morning is going to be an ice rink.
  12. Met office wording: Snow showers will continue to feed inland early on Tuesday morning across northern and western Scotland, parts of Wales and northwest England where 2-5 cm of snow is possible over a few hours in some places. During the day, an area of more organised rain, sleet and snow is likely to move east with further showers following. There is still some uncertainty in the track of more prolonged snow, and it is possible that at lower elevations across Wales and northern England, this could turn to rain for a time. However, there is a chance some places could see 5-10 cm perhaps 20 cm of snow, particularly across the northern half of Scotland and over higher ground elsewhere.
  13. Although the snow potential looks likely for early next week it’ll be down to nowcasting to see if the precipitation does go over the Pennines unaffected or if it fizzles out before reaching us. Here’s to hoping that it does snow, and a lot!
  14. The lack of a rain warning surprises me, it’s been absolutely chucking it down for several hours and the area of heavier precipitation is much further north than the yellow rain warnings suggest
  15. The system seems to have stalled over us and started to tilt towards the west. This would be a good starter for some showers to come inland from the coast.
  16. That heavy band produced some very large snowflakes, a little bit more than a dusting now on the cars and grass.
  17. A very slight dusting in south Leeds, but the real concern will be the icy conditions when it all freezes by early morning.
  18. The radar is not correctly displaying intensity, the north of the band is less than a drizzle but is being shown as the heavier sector.
  19. Both the river Ure and river Skell have burst their banks this morning in Ripon with more rain coming. I’m a little surprised by the lack of rain warnings.
