  1. Nothing noticed here yet - I think it'll be a while before I notice the mornings drawing in as I'm not usually awake until at least 6.30. This time next week I might notice the evenings drawing in. The last week of July should be when things start to feel less summery in terms of sun angle etc, as I noticed the winter equivalent during the last week of January!
  2. I love the long evenings but the light at 4am can make it hard to get back to sleep if you wake up at that time! I'd love the entire year to have daylight from 6am-10pm.
  3. In another thread I think I described winter as early January to mid March. I associate early March with cold northerly/easterly winds which I think are more likely to occur in March than December. The core part of winter, though, only seems to last a few weeks from roughly mid January to early February! The rest is just an extension of autumn or a transition to spring. As mentioned by others, late November/early December often gives us a taste of winter before reverting to autumn in time for Christmas. After the transition period I think spring starts properly after the equinox and summer starts properly after the solstice. I think of late summer as being the last 2 weeks of August plus the first 1-2 weeks of September. Then autumn starts properly after the equinox!
  4. Tomorrow night is my last true 'night' before 27th July and it will only last 22 minutes!
  5. We had a nice woodland walk this morning and the mud was cracked as it was so dry - nice change from last spring and the one before that!
  6. A few spots of rain on the windows this morning! Looks like tomorrow will clear up nicely in Norwich, but a bit chilly.
  7. In February I mentioned Longyearbyen in Svalbard and how they gained 2 hours in the space of about 2 days. On Thursday 17th April they gained 53 minutes and the sun won't set again until 25th August! Longyearbyen - timeanddate.com
  8. Sunny spells and a colander giving an upside-down view of the eclipse!
  9. June May is a very close second, but June having the longest daylight hours tips the balance for me July August September April March February October January November December
  10. BruenSryan Since I joined this forum over a year ago it's been pretty rare to see both 'dry' and 'sunny' next to any month!
  11. damianslaw When I walked to the shops today the wind was freezing despite the sun being quite strong! Days like this make me realise why I normally think the 'astronomical seasons' are more accurate, but the recent mild spell was an exception.
  12. I'm normally more aligned with the astronomical seasons but I think spring has started on time this year! On my walk at 2pm the cold breeze was reducing the warmth from the sun, though.
  13. Yesterday afternoon here seemed to be our first taste of spring when the cloud cleared up! It was nice to see many crocuses, daffodils and snowdrops on our walk.
