Sounds like high pressure over northern UK in late October :o

  2. Still overcast, and surprisingly (or maybe not!) a little very light drizzle. 13.6 c with very light NE breeze.

Temps probably stuck at around 13 to 15 c all day

Still you can't have it always, Thursday had a 'meditteranean' 29 c with unbroken sunshine.

Some sun tomorrow, although it may take a while to come through I guess.

    Regards, Paul.

  3. Hi Paul

Its very  dry    in the north east which is very strange B)

The lawns and gardens are all a bit parched!

and with next week looking on the sunny and

warm side! maybe another 76 may be on the cards :o

as its early doors in the summer of 2005 :)

    Regards Don

Hi Don, our garden was persistantly parched for weeks, apart from a rare splash of rain. But yesterday and last night must have seen possibly well over half an inch of rain - and the grass is looking really green for the first time in ages!

    Regards, Paul.....nuff said!!!!

  4. Hi Paul.. well I have to carry buckets of

water down stairs to my patio

To water my pot plants :o

Takes ages but keeps me fit :D

It never seems to rain enough these days

    Even on Tyneside :)

    Cheers Don,

It's been so---ohhh dry this year. Yesterday's storms were well welcome, but I fear the next warm dry spell will soon dry everything out once again! :o :) B) Nevertheless, I'd kill to see another 76' summer. B)

  5. I was awoken by a short spell of torrential rain around 2:30 am this morning. It was quite surprising, as I thought the rain was going to tend to die away during last night.

Contrary to Mr Deakin's BBC forecast at 10:30pm last night, light to moderate rain continued until around 10:30 am.

Mr Deakin suggested it would be mainly dry, except for an odd spot of rain at first - and light showers possible over SW England throughout the day.

Currently dry and dull. Gentle northeasterly breeze. 13.3 c.

  7. Since the cracking storm of early today (7 to 8 am), things have been mainly cloudy and hazy with occasional showers. Heavy rain for a while an hour ago has stopped. Still dull and hazy with a very light NE breeze. Temp: 15. 1 c.

First decent rain for weeks! :D

  8. Completely dry until 7:15 am. A menacing black anvil mushroomed up from the south-west and produced fantastic forked lightning with very loud thunderclaps.

Three heavy bursts of rain since, with occasional forked lightning and loud thunder. Very gloomy with light north-westerly breeze, a gustier westerly occurred as the rain started at 7:15.

  9. B) A challenging last few weather weeks for gardeners!

A lack of decent rain, some strong winds and sharp night frots in May have all kept any gardeners on their toes.

For the first time ever, I saw frost damage on Privet last month. Hydrangeas, despite last year's flower heads left on, were also battered by brutal late spring frosts.

At the end of May, a few trees were reported down in NE England, due to high winds gusting over 60 mph.

And now, while many of us are watering our gardens - those in the south-east of England face possible hosepipe bans, as resevoirs reach record low levels not seen since 1976.

But on a brighter note, enjoy the joys of the June garden....and I look forward to reading a lot of great posts here! :):):)
